Welcome Jazz to CCPAL Rescue. Jazz is a 4-year-old Airedale/Irish Terrier Mix dog. She weighs about 70 pounds and has the scruffy terrier coat. She is not a big shedder and is very friendly. Jazz had an elderly man owner. Her owner is now in hospice so CCPAL was asked to step up for his 3 dogs. Jazz had some loss of hair and is now a health and beautiful dog, thanks to good nutrition and some wonderful vet care. She pulls on leash but is eager to walk and really very social with people. She is picky with her dog friends but hasn’t met a human she doesn’t like. Her previous owner is not doing well and the only option is for all 3 of these dogs to find a new forever home. They are well behaved and have some commands under their belt. Jazz knows sit and is decent on a leash. We do think she is potty trained as she doesn’t go in her kennel. She is very attentive and naturally bonds well with men. She wants to do what you ask and can be an only or go with other dogs. She is a stronger willed than the boy named Jett. She is a wonderful dog. She has lived in a home with two large males and did great. She would be a great companion for someone wanting a active companion that is less of a shedding dog. She is currently in Texas at the CCPAL. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. History and A note from the foster: Mellie is an adorable and spritely pup, who is looking for a forever home after a rough start to life in the commercial breeding world. When Mellie first arrived, she was shut down and frightened of everything as the whole world was new to her. However, her progress has been immense! Her doggy nieces have shown her how to be a dog living the good life and she has gained confidence and has curiosity about everything around her. She loves a snuffle mat and likes a boiled egg with dinner! Mellie takes an every day anxiety medication and her backyard time with puppy pals has been instrumental in helping her uncover the playful, silly Wheaten girl that she is inside! In order for Mellie to thrive in her new home, she will need a confident adult companion dog. While Mellie has built some trust with humans on her own, she is at her happiest and most open when she has another dog to lend her confidence and to be her guide. Mellie will also need a backyard with a physical fence. Since introducing her to her first ever backyard space, Mellie has blossomed as a dog! She loves to run, romp in garden beds, roll on the grass, and splash around in any water available! A backyard space is very important for letting Mellie be her best self. Mellie is a good pup and rarely has accidents inside as long as a regular potty routine is established. Because of her difficult start, she has not used a crate in her foster home. She has been a peaceful sleeper and not destructive when left alone. She would likely do best in a home with adults or a family with older children who can understand her boundaries and her need to build trust with her people. Mellie is a sweet, wonderful Wheaten girl, and would make a fabulous addition to a family looking for a second pup! UPDATE: Mellie’s forever home will need a permanent physical fence space. Mellie loves to play outside but she is a flight risk, so a physical fence is necessary for her to play safely.

These days, my foster family calls me “pretty girl.” I had a rough start in life as part of a breeder release, but over the past seven months I’ve been fortunate to spend time in two wonderful foster homes. I arrived as a very scared girl, but I’ve made incredible progress and grown so much. While sudden movements and unexpected noises can still startle me, I’m getting braver every day. I currently live with an 11-year-old Wheaten Terrier who’s helping show me the ropes. I’m still working on having fewer accidents in my crate and resisting the urge to chew on things I shouldn’t—but I’m eager to learn and improve more each day! I have a moderate energy level and enjoy a nice balance of walks and relaxing—whether that’s napping in my crate or cuddling on the couch. I love playing with toys, spending time with other dogs, and being outside. In fact, being outdoors is one of my favorite things! I’m a very sweet girl and rarely bark. My ideal home would include a fenced-in yard, another dog to play with, and a calm, low-stress environment. I would do best with older children, as younger kids can be a bit unpredictable for me. I can be with littles for a short period of time. I would thrive in a home where my human is home most of the time. History: McKenna is a beautiful gal who needed help from an unfortunate situation who arrived to rescue scared and unsure of that around her. She does best with another confident dog around and will thrive with a very patient and quieter environment to help her continue with her trust and confidence! McKenna underwent ectopic ureter surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to address issues with urine leakage. During this procedure, she was also diagnosed with a rare condition of having two vaginas. Fortunately, McKenna is currently symptom-free regarding her urinary and reproductive systems, and her recent bloodwork shows all results within normal limits. A Note from the Foster: McKenna is a 3 year old Wheaten Terrier. She is truly the sweetest dog, gentle and curious. She loves having someone around, and loves meeting new people. Everyone comments how social she is and not afraid to approach them. Although she hasn’t been around children I would guess she would be very gentle around them also. She didn’t like being in her kennel at all , so I borrowed a larger kennel and left the door open for her to go in and out when she wanted. She now uses her kennel at night and for naps, and sleeps through the night without a problem. She is doing very well with going outside to potty, and goes to the door when she needs to go out. She loves spending time lying on the deck watching the geese and bunnies in our backyard. A fenced yard would be a plus as she loves to zoom around and play.
