Story
Mia is a 1‑year‑old Akbash with a huge heart and a gentle, loving nature. She gets along wonderfully with cats, dogs, and horses, and she adores people and kids. Mia is playful, social, and happiest when she’s included in whatever her humans are doing. Her only challenge is free‑range chickens — she plays too hard without meaning to. She can live with chickens as long as they’re securely locked away or separated from her. Mia would thrive with an active adult or family who has time to spend with her, take her on adventures, and enjoy her sweet companionship. Her current owner loves her deeply but works long hours, and Mia deserves a home where she can get the attention and activity she needs. She’s a loyal, affectionate girl ready for a family who can give her the time and love she gives so freely.

Story
Hero was born in November of 2023. He is very sweet to family and kids and has a protective instinct like the Pyraneese breed. He is house trained and does not mark. The vet wanted to wait to neuter him until he was fully grown for his bone health. He does not get along with our cat anymore, and resource guards with other dogs. A home with no other animals would be better for him. He is allergic to chicken and is on a salmon diet. He will sit on command and wait to be told to eat. When he barks at neighbors or other sounds around the neighborhood, just tell him thank you and thats enough and he will calm down. He is crate trained and sleeps overnight in his crate because he still sometimes chews on things that arent his. He is wary of guests but having them give him toys has helped him warm up. He needs a secure yard as he likes to try to leave and wander if left unsupervised long enough.

Story
Please meet Melman fka Koko! A8407642.5 year old neutered male, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. This sweet gentle giant is looking for his next foster or foster to adopt home. Named after the goofy, lengthy, wobbly giraffe, Melman is a big boy who is recovering from two hip surgeries. While he is a little wobbly, he gets around just fine on his own and needs a place to continue rehabilitation, gain weight, and strength. Melman takes pain medications and joint supplements nicely and is very food motivated! Melman is a very big Velcro dog who wants to be his humans’s very best friend, a good snuggle and pets on the couch is his idea of the best day ever. Melman has done well in the foster home with both dogs and cats. He does not mind cats at all and would be a very good addition to a home with feline friends! Melman can live with other dogs, but would strive in a home with calm, submissive dogs or where he can have at least one human who can give him the spotlight and all the love. Melman walks well on a leash, has been friendly with all humans, has previously done well with children but we would recommend older children who can respect his recovery. He is house trained. He still needs some work on crate training. Melman has weekly physical therapy and occasional vet visits that at this time are still covered by PACC, along with his current medications. Melman does not do well in the shelter so we would love to get him into his next home by Christmas to avoid going back. Please reach out to PACC.MedicalFoster@pima.gov for more information or to schedule a meet and greet.

Story
Norton is a gentle giant with a heart full of potential. Norton came to PACC after living a rough life, likely as an outdoor dog who was left behind. Since arriving at PACC and moving into foster care, he’s been slowly learning what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family.Norton is still shy with new people and needs time and patience to warm up, especially with men. He’s particularly sensitive about being touched near his neck and the area around his missing eye, but once he trusts you, he seeks out affection and enjoys being loved on in his own gentle way.He currently lives with other dogs and cats and is doing well with slow, supervised introductions. Norton is house-trained, crate-trained, and enjoys car rides, relaxing in the park, and taking in the world by his foster family`s side. Because Norton is still nervous about loud noises and unfamiliar environments, he needs to be monitored when outdoors and will need a secure yard with tall fencing and a solid gate. Norton likes the mellow, simple pleasures, so a home without young children would be best. He would love a calm, adult household with someone who understands shy dogs and is willing to go slow as he continues to grow more confident. If you`re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who just needs time, patience, and love to truly shine—Norton is your guy.
