Story
Norton is a gentle giant with a heart full of potential. Norton came to PACC after living a rough life, likely as an outdoor dog who was left behind. Since arriving at PACC and moving into foster care, he’s been slowly learning what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family.Norton is still shy with new people and needs time and patience to warm up, especially with men. He’s particularly sensitive about being touched near his neck and the area around his missing eye, but once he trusts you, he seeks out affection and enjoys being loved on in his own gentle way.He currently lives with other dogs and cats and is doing well with slow, supervised introductions. Norton is house-trained, crate-trained, and enjoys car rides, relaxing in the park, and taking in the world by his foster family`s side. Because Norton is still nervous about loud noises and unfamiliar environments, he needs to be monitored when outdoors and will need a secure yard with tall fencing and a solid gate. Norton likes the mellow, simple pleasures, so a home without young children would be best. He would love a calm, adult household with someone who understands shy dogs and is willing to go slow as he continues to grow more confident. If you`re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who just needs time, patience, and love to truly shine—Norton is your guy.

Meet Joey! This special and sweet boy is looking for a foster home! Joey has Wobblers Syndrome ( spinal deformity, and therefore difficult to walk on his forelimbs). Joey is looking for a special home and foster to care for his mobility while PACC looks into possible fundraising options for surgical correction. A foster up to the task of physical therapy would help as well! Joey has difficulty walkin on his two front legs, but tends to balance well on his hindend. He likes to be outdoors with some help moving and loves attention from people. If you are up to helping Joey out please reach out to us!

Story
Please meet Melman fka Koko! A8407642.5 year old neutered male, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. This sweet gentle giant is looking for his next foster or foster to adopt home. Named after the goofy, lengthy, wobbly giraffe, Melman is a big boy who is recovering from two hip surgeries. While he is a little wobbly, he gets around just fine on his own and needs a place to continue rehabilitation, gain weight, and strength. Melman takes pain medications and joint supplements nicely and is very food motivated! Melman is a very big Velcro dog who wants to be his humans’s very best friend, a good snuggle and pets on the couch is his idea of the best day ever. Melman has done well in the foster home with both dogs and cats. He does not mind cats at all and would be a very good addition to a home with feline friends! Melman can live with other dogs, but would strive in a home with calm, submissive dogs or where he can have at least one human who can give him the spotlight and all the love. Melman walks well on a leash, has been friendly with all humans, has previously done well with children but we would recommend older children who can respect his recovery. He is house trained. He still needs some work on crate training. Melman has weekly physical therapy and occasional vet visits that at this time are still covered by PACC, along with his current medications. Melman does not do well in the shelter so we would love to get him into his next home by Christmas to avoid going back. Please reach out to PACC.MedicalFoster@pima.gov for more information or to schedule a meet and greet.

“Dude, this dog is on fleek.”“Dude, this dog is the best.”“Dude, this dog is phat.”“Dude, this dog is cool.”“Dude, this dog is the GOAT!”“Dude, this dog is groovy!!”Whatever generation your slang originates from, everyone can agree that Dude the dog is an AMAZING pup! He’s friendly, food motivated, knows sit and paw and LOVES attention and pets. His volunteer friends sing his praises, saying the following:“Oh my goodness, ?Dude!! ?He is the perfect boy! He is super friendly and easy ?t?o leash up. He is a little jumping bean ?when walking ?from his kennel to ?a play yard. Once in the yard he is a wiggly?, affectionate?,amazing boy! He wriggles his entire body as he gets up close to you in order to get into the best position for kisses! He stood rightnexttome so that I could pet his entire body! His tail doesn`t stop wagging the entire time he`s in a yard with a volunteer friend. He is playful and easygoing with his kennelmate and overall is just an amazing boy!?”“Dude was very easy to leash and was a great walker today. He wanted to sniff everything on the walk and in the yard. He is super sweet and absolutely loves getting pets.”Dude shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit (we do know that he previously lived with multiple other dogs). If you’re looking to bring home a dog to make all your friends say “Dude, this dog is fire!!” or if you’re asking yourself “Dude, where’s my dog?”, look no further than Dude!!

Story
Fans of the television show Parks and Recreation know that Duke Silver is character Ron Swanson’s alias when playing the saxophone, headlining “The Duke Silver Trio” once a month at a local bar. The ladies swoon over his moustache and smooth jazz riffs. We’d love to introduce you to one cool pup who`s got the ladies and gents drooling over him! While he can’t play the sax, he’ll play with his kennelmate all day long! Volunteers love his adorable face and fun personality- here’s what one friend said:“Duke is a very friendly and bouncy boy! Always happy to see a volunteer friend and eager to get out of his kennel, he`s easy to leash and loves to run around the play yard with his kennel mate. He always checks in for a little bit of affection and seems like he would make a great hiking or jogging buddy, or just a snuggle buddy for quiet days at home. Very sweet boy!”Duke shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Duke is a people oriented, friendly, food motivated (great for training!) boy who knows sit and paw and absolutely loves to get attention and pets! While he may not be a crooner or a saxaphooner, Duke is ready to steal your heart with his many, many other charms and wonderful qualities! If you`re looking for a snuggly, playful young sweetheart. Duke would love to meet you!
