Story
Rue, est. born August 22nd 2025 (1 yr old). Rue looks to be an Anatolian Shepherd Mix with a lot of spunk. Rue was only 6 days old when she was found and was a bottle baby. She has moderate energy and would do well in a home by herself as she is people oriented after her nervousness goes away. She is kennel trained and has some leash training, but would benefit from a trainer or someone who has good training skills. Rue is great with cats. I am having to rehome her due to other family dogs that do not get along with her that has started quarrels between them and it would be the safer option to find a good home for her. She’s snuggly, but independent. She doesn’t chew up personal items or stuffed toys (very gentle) other than that she will steal your socks to nurse on or take your shoes on an adventure (only has chewed up one pair of shoes). Rue is use to getting brushed, bathed, and not scared of the blowdryer or any loud items (besides fireworks). I will supply a kennel and food.

Hello! My name is Skylar, and I'm available for adoption at Santa Barbara Humane's Santa Maria Campus! I’m an energetic, playful girl with tons of potential and a whole lot of love to give. I’m looking for an active family who is ready to have some fun with me, teach me new things, and help shape me into the awesome companion I know I can be! With the right guidance, patience, and plenty of adventures, I’m ready to grow, learn, and become your best friend. Like all animals at Santa Barbara Humane, before going home I will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped​. My adoption also includes a complimentary post-adoption health exam with a participating local veterinary clinic as well as a supply of Hill's Science Diet food to help make my first few days at home a little easier. If you're ready to welcome me or another animal into your family, stop by during adoption hours—daily from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Wednesdays. No ​appointment or advance notice is ​r​equired! Need to pick up a few essentials before heading home? Visit the retail center at either Santa Barbara Humane campus, where you'll find toys, treats, collars, leashes, and more at competitive prices. Every purchase helps support the animals in our care and the programs that serve pets and people throughout our community. ​We hope to see you soon!
