Story
Robyn (aka Christopher Robyn) is a 3-year-old, 93 lb neutered male Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix with a fluffy, handsome coat and an even bigger heart to match. This gentle giant is the total package — playful, affectionate, and full of personality. He’s the kind of dog who makes an impression the moment you meet him, not just because of his size, but because of his sweet, joyful spirit. Robyn is being fostered in Houston, Texas and is available for adoption out-of-state. Transport can be arranged for approved adopters. Please note, our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we’ll reach out to coordinate a phone interview, followed by a video call with his foster home. A virtual home visit, plus personal and vet reference checks, are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. Robyn loves other dogs and happily engages in play. He’s been around dogs of all sizes (thanks to time spent boarding at Urban Mutts) and has done well across the board. On leash, he gets excited when he sees other dogs but remains gentle and manageable — no concerning behaviors, just a big, friendly guy who wants to say hello. He’s also great with kids and has had positive interactions with children of various ages. He’s gentle, happy, and clearly enjoys their company. That said, due to his size and enthusiasm (and his tendency to give big “hug” greetings), he’d likely do best in a home with older or sturdier kids who won’t be easily knocked over. Robyn walks on leash with a mix of excitement and manners — he may pull at first, but settles into a nice walk and stays close. He seems to have had some prior training and is very capable of continuing to improve with consistency. He's house-trained and does well in a crate, especially when given toys or chews to keep him occupied. He’s typically crated for about 4 hours at a time during the day and overnight without issue. Robyn loves toys and has a playful, goofy side — one of his favorite games is “keep away,” where he proudly shows off his prize and invites you into the fun. He’s not showing signs of resource guarding, just a dog who loves to play. He has no issues with people around food. His energy level is moderate to high — he loves running around the yard, getting his zoomies out, and going on walks (currently twice a day, though he’d happily take more). He thrives with both physical activity and mental stimulation and would do best in an active home. Robyn is affectionate, playful, smart, and a little silly. He loves being around his people, enjoys toys, and is always up for fun. When meeting strangers, he’s friendly and gentle, though he may bark if someone approaches quickly — once he realizes they’re a friend, he warms up right away. He’s also a bit of a “hugger” and will jump up to say hello, which is something his future home should continue to work on. He rides well in the car and is always ready for the next adventure. No issues with stairs — he’s confident and curious wherever he goes. Robyn’s ideal home is one where he has space to run and play — a yard with a secure, tall fence is a must for this big, active boy. He would love a home with people who are engaged, active, and ready to include him in daily life. Another dog would be a bonus, but not required. If you’re looking for a big, lovable, playful companion who will keep you smiling (and maybe occasionally outsmart you in a game of keep away), Robyn is your guy. He’s ready for a home where he can stretch out, run free, and be loved as much as he loves in return. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
