Story
Looking for a dog who’s equal parts strength, charm, and mischief? Meet Rambo, an Akita mix who will keep you laughing and on your toes. This handsome powerhouse is full of personality. He's confident, clever, and ready to rule your heart (and probably your house). Rambo is a born leader and needs a confident, experienced handler who appreciates a dog with a big presence. He’s loves to show off his smarts — especially if there are treats or toys involved! With his goofy grin and harmless “gotcha” moments, Rambo’s trickster spirit will keep life fun as long as you remember to reinforce the rules. Rambo prefers to be your one-and-only, having the spotlight all to himself. If you’re confident, active, and ready to team up with a dog who’s equal parts strength, smarts, and silliness, Rambo might just be your perfect match. Story
Meet Odin, a powerful name for a smart, energetic dog who knows what he likes. This handsome guy is very treat-motivated, already knows sit, and loves chasing balls, making him a fun partner for training and interactive play. Odin walks decently on leash and would truly shine in a home with plenty of space where he can stretch his legs, burn energy, and enjoy doing his own thing. Like his namesake, Odin is selective about his inner circle. He prefers to be the only pet and would do best in a cat-free home. He can be cautious with new people and may bark at strangers, so he’s looking for a confident, experienced adopter who understands how to build trust and provide calm, consistent guidance. In the right hands, Odin will reward patience with loyalty and a strong bond—ideal for someone seeking a devoted companion rather than a social butterfly. Story
Balto is a one year old male Akita mix and an absolutely stunning boy. His gorgeous, fluffy coat practically glows in the sunshine - and it’s so comforting to pet his super-soft fur! He walks well on a leash and almost prances while out and about … yes, he definitely knows that he’s handsome! Balto enjoys going on walks and likes running along the fence line with other dogs in adjacent play areas. Most of all, he truly loves spending time with his human friends and is happy to do whatever you have in mind, whether that’s a neighborhood stroll or curling up on the couch for movie night. While Balto adores people, he has been dog-selective at the shelter, so a Meet and Greet would be needed if other dogs live in your home. But don’t worry - Balto has a big heart and more than enough love to give all on his own. Come meet this sweet boy soon, and give Balto the loving home he deserves! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip. Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. The hours of operation are: Monday through Wednesday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Thursday 12:30 pm till 6:00 pm; Friday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am till 4:00 pm.
