Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! For instance, I am a busy boy, I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. Now, before you go all "Lion King" on me, just know that I will be your bestest buddy forever!! I am two VERY loyal breeds and once I know you are my family, you will have my unending love :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Hello! This is Appa he is a sweet 4.5 year old American Akita. His birthday is May 11, 2021. I originally got him from a breeder in Dallas,TX when he was 8 weeks old. He is such a loving dog and is the friendliest Akita ever when it comes to meeting new people. I no longer have a cat, but he grew up around a one and never had any issues with him. He is a pretty independent dog which is normal for the breed, but he is a super sweet boy that loves getting pets. He gets along well with most female dogs. I would highly advise against having him live with another male dog due to the natural same sex aggression that is seen in this breed. He is well behaved and knows all of his obedience commands, although in typical Akita fashion he may pick and choose how quickly he listens. He's honestly an amazing dog, but due to life changes and circumstances it would be best for him to be rehomed. He is up to date on all of his shots, and currently takes simparico trio.

At 5.5 years old, he recently road-tripped all the way from Mexico with a partner shelter, along with several other dogs who are also adoptable and now in our care. Cubby is a 6 year old male Husky who ended up here at the shelter due to his Husky antics and an unfortunate change in family dynamics have changed and his people are no longer able to care for him appropriately. He is looking for an owner who will keep him out of trouble (he likes to escape the yard whenever he is able), and doesn't like to be alone. He would prefer an owner who is active and likes to go on walks and adventures. Cubby has lived with female dogs and has done well, he also has lived with cats and children without issue. Cubby is housetrained but can be destructive if left alone outside of a secure kennel. We recommend a specific kennel style to keep him safe and out of trouble when his people aren't home. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (3 year rabies!), and is heartworm negative. His adoption fee is FREE and he is SO ready to leave the shelter.
