Story
Valkyrie is a one-year-old dog with a quiet spirit and a heart that’s still learning how to feel safe. He’s very timid and not comfortable with hands-on touch yet, but he is making progress—especially with leash training, which he’s just beginning to understand. Valkyrie will need a truly special home: one that’s patient, calm, and committed to helping a shy dog build confidence at his own pace. His future family must be willing to follow specific protocols and work closely with one of our trainers to support his ongoing rehabilitation. Consistency and understanding will be key to his success. While Valkyrie isn’t the kind of dog who will jump into your arms right away, he has the potential to form deep, meaningful bonds with people who respect his boundaries and celebrate small victories. Watching him learn to trust will be incredibly rewarding for the right adopter. If you have experience with fearful dogs—or are ready to learn with guidance—and can offer a stable, low-pressure environment, Valkyrie may be the dog who quietly changes your life.December 27, 2025, 5:36 pm

Story
Sakari is a special dog who will need a very special home. She is extremely fearful and has clearly spent a long time living on the streets, which has shaped her independent nature. Because of this, Sakari will not be placed in just any home. Her adopter must be patient, experienced, and willing to work closely with a professional trainer to help her continue building trust and confidence. Despite her fears, Sakari is very intelligent and observant, and she shows great potential with the right guidance and structure. She will do best in a calm, understanding environment where expectations are realistic and progress is allowed to happen at her pace. Sakari isn’t for everyone—but for the right person committed to giving her the time, training, and compassion she needs, she has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion.December 24, 2025, 2:47 pm

Story
Meet Sally & Sasha  These two beautiful husky mix girls recently came into our shelter through Animal Control after being reported multiple times and, finally, safely caught. Now that they’re here, their story is taking a much brighter turn. We named them Sally and Sasha, and both are estimated to be around 3–5 years old. While they likely shared some of the same experiences out on their own, their medical needs were very different. Sasha is a total sweetie pie — a gentle, darling girl who came in with far fewer medical concerns and has been soaking up all the love and attention since day one. Sally, however, needed a bit more help. She came to us with a vaginal prolapse, which is a condition where vaginal tissue protrudes outside the body. In dogs, this can happen due to hormonal changes, especially during heat cycles, and it can become very uncomfortable or even dangerous if left untreated. While Sally was undergoing surgery to spay her (which helps correct and prevent future prolapse), our veterinarian discovered something even more serious: pyometra. Pyometra is a life-threatening uterine infection that occurs in unspayed female dogs. The uterus fills with infection and toxins, and without prompt treatment, it can be fatal. Thankfully, it was caught just in time, though it was already pretty severe. This surgery saved her life. The good news? Sally is now on her road to recovery and doing wonderfully with us by her side every step of the way. Both girls will be loved, cared for, and spoiled while they’re with us — getting medical care, comfort, full bellies, and plenty of affection as they heal and decompress. We are now accepting adoption applications for both Sally and Sasha! If you’re looking to add a loyal, resilient, and loving companion to your family, one of these girls might be your perfect match. Thank you for supporting shelter dogs and for giving second chances a chance.  February 11, 2026, 6:19 pm
