Story
LOKI is a local surrender who was no longer able to keep this friendly boy due to housing issues. He's 4 years old and fully vetted. He's good with his foster's other Huskies, but may be a bit too playful for small dogs. He hasn't been around the foster's cat yet. He does well with the foster's confident dogs and takes corrections well if he's being annoying to them. Loki is housetrained and does well on a leash for walks. He's playful and also very snuggly. His beige flag is he will steal and dish towel, rag, cloth, or placemat he can find and run off with them! He does also enjoy the more tradition balls to play with. He currently sleeps on his foster's bed or down on the dog bed next to her bed. The poor boy was chained up for most of his life and so is a little clingy, but getting better every day. And clingy is okay for some folks, anyway. Come wintertime, you'll love it! 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
FLUFF recently turned a year old and is very friendly and playful. Gorgeous and good with all dogs he's been around. He was returned after 4 months after very torn feelings from his adopter. He's reportedly a wonderful, friendly, great dog, and his only issue is that he was becoming destructive in the crate when they'd leave the home. He'd find a way to move the crate near things he could get into and chew on whenever they were leaving him. If people are home when he's crated, he seemed to do fine, like overnights. But if they crated him and left the house, he was getting very anxious, and as they adopted him as a puppy, they definitely wanted to crate him when they left to ensure he wouldn't get into mischief. They feel he'd do better with someone who's around home more often. He loves cats and his "yes" he's good with cats comes with a "but"... he can be a little rough playing with them at times, but never with an inch of aggression. With a dog-savvy cat, he'd likely be fine. He loves chew toys, especially chew rings, and enjoys walks with minimal pulling, as well as car rides. Fully vetted. Story
Harlow is a wonderful dog that loves to play with toys and run around the dog park. He likes to chase and be chased by the other dogs as well. It is ideal if you have a backyard or space to run. One of his back legs/hips has some tightness and swelling at times, so he is unable to jump over fences and may need help getting into your car. He has spent time around cats and kids, but we dont know the specifics. He does fine in a crate when we are not home. He is very food motivated and I believe would respond to training if you could give him the time. He can get very overstimulated in stores or on walks, but slowing down and redirecting him is helpful. He is currently just over 3 years old. I unfortunately found out that I am extremely allergic to him and it's affecting my overall health. Hopefully he can find a new family very soon.
