Sakura joined our family as a puppy in 2020 but recently found her way back to us due to her impressive fence-breaking skills. This girl is bursting with energy and requires an active lifestyle with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. If you're not prepared for a high-energy companion, Sakura might not be the right fit for you. She gets along with both cats and dogs, but hasn't had much exposure to livestock and may bark at horses. Sakura is a strong girl who's working on her leash manners but still tends to pull quite hard. While she's said to be a fantastic family dog, especially with older children, her energy levels require consistent activity. She's not a fan of crating for long periods or staying contained in a fence alone, so leash walks are a must for her outdoor time. On the bright side, Sakura is a champ in the car and did wonderfully when left alone inside her foster home. She's looking for an active household, preferably with a yard, where she can thrive and be the best version of herself. Sakura is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm-negative, and on prevention.

Baretta was returned due to her taste for chickens and a family member's allergies. She is dog friendly with older dogs who don't have too much energy (no puppies!), and did very well with the cats in her foster home although she was not left alone with them. Her most recent adoptive home said she did not do well with dogs that were smaller than her however. She will resource guard food around other dogs and should always be fed separately. She has not shown any resource guarding around empty bowls or water dishes. She does great with kids and has done well being introduced to new people. She will go after chickens if given the chance. She has been kept as an outside only dog the past 4 years, but is crate trained (although she will whine and scratch at the bars occasionally when first crated). She is not potty trained when left loose in the house. She loves getting attention and is definitely a velcro dog that prefers to be right next to you at all times. She will scratch and bite at the chain link doors and fencing when she is left alone but has not gotten through our fencing at the shelter. Baretta has separation anxiety and will need to be crated if she is going to be left alone. She walks very well on a leash. She does know some basic commands. Baretta is getting up there in age, but does like to play still. She loves tennis balls and getting to play fetch. She loves squeak toys and does have a tendency to guard her favorite around other dogs. She is not a fan of baths or brushing. She is on the chunkier side and should not be free fed, although she is a grazer when it comes to food anyway. While Baretta has spent most of her life as an outside dog, she loves being inside, cuddling in bed, and being close to her people. Baretta is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative and on prevention.
