Story
ABOUT ROGUE Looking for a bundle of fun? Meet Rogue! He came to HAP when he was found locally as a stray. Despite looking for his owners, sadly, no one came forward for him. Rogue was in pretty rough shape, with severe skin irritation and ulcers on his paw pads. Understandably, this pain combined with coming into the busy shelter environment has been a lot for him. We started him on a healthy diet and medication to help heal his skin. While he is now feeling better, our team has been working to rebuild Rogue's confidence and trust in people! Rogue is a sweet little guy who loves spending time with his favorite people. He keeps his kennel relatively neat and seems to try his best to hold it until potty breaks. He is very treat-motivated and appears to know basic commands! Rogue has enjoyed participating in our Doggy Day Out program with his favorite friends, here's what one of our caretakers had to say about her day with him: "Today I took my sweet lil friend Rogue out! He was eager to hop right into the car, though he needed a little assistance with his short legs. He seemed to enjoy the car ride, he was a very quiet, calm passenger. We went to the River Walk and the wildlife refuge. Rogue didn’t stop to sniff too much, he just wanted to keep walking and exploring! He would check in with me periodically, and sit politely for a treat. We didn't encounter any dogs, but we did see a number of bikers/scooters/walkers/geese. Rogue was curious but non-reactive. He also enjoyed the short breaks we took along the way to just sit and enjoy the beautiful weather. He hopped up on the benches with me and snuggled up for pets. Rogue is such a great little dude with a big underbite and a bigger heart! I hope he gets adopted soon!" - Caroline If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
