Story
***Baron is currently at a loving Foster in Flemington, NJ. at one of our foster homes in Georgia. To apply for the adoption of Baron, please first submit an application at socorescue.com. Questions about Baron and/or our adoption policy should be directed to socorescue8@gmail.com. Please do not call the number listed for SoCo as the staff in Georgia stays very busy and is unable to field calls at this time.*** Like a death row inmate awaiting the call from the Governor, Baron was really praying that his stay of execution would also come in time. He was locked up at the Laurens Co Animal Control and out of "time" in which to have a licensed rescue pull him. A few days earlier, Baron met a nice man who came and took other dogs out of the troubled animal control, even stopped to speak with Baron. And while this man promised to come back for him, Baron was beginning to believe the man had forgotten him. But then Baron heard a familiar voice call out to him and say "See, I told you I was coming back for you!" Standing there before him was the same nice man he'd met a few days earlier and he was carrying a leash. Baron's stay of execution came through just in the nick of time. Baron learned that this man was named Scott and he was with a dog rescue called SoCo Rescue. Baron didn't fully understand what all that meant, but he sure was happy to be out of that animal control an n the SoCo Rescue bus.  Baron's first stop was to see a vet where he was tested for heartworms, which his test results came back negative, and he received a bevy of vaccinations,  de-wormers and other things that didn't taste real good but were very good for him. From there, Mr. Scott took him to a foster home where he's been since. During that time Baron was also neutered and has been kept on his monthly preventatives. He's also proven to be very friendly to people and other dogs, even getting along great with his foster family's older dog. Baron has also displayed some house training experience but may need additional training once in his new home. There's no doubt that Baron will make a great family companion. To apply for the adoption of Baron, please submit an application at socorescue.com. If chosen to adopt Baron, a SoCo team member will contact you ASAP. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 28, 2024, 1:46 pm

Story
***ADOPTION PENDING**. Chilli is currently with a SoCo foster home in Georgia but can be transported to New Jersey for our monthly adoption event in Ringoes. Applications for her adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com-no need to register or login. Questions about Chilli and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com. Please don't call the shelter's number. *** Right after Helene hit our area, a woman found a litter of puppies all alone in a ditch. How or why they ended up in the ditch is a mystery to the woman, but she knew that she couldn't't leave them there. After getting them to her home, she noticed that the smallest of the puppies, Chance, appeared to have been bitten by a larger dog. The woman asked for our help in caring for and placing the pups and we were more than glad to help. Being the only female among this pack, Chilli is also the calmest and even a little shy at times. But give this sweet girl a little time to learn the you're a friend and she will flood your heart with love! A calmer, less commotion home with older children would be best for Chilli. Chilli has had 2 of 3 first year "puppy vaccines, de-wormings and other such care. She should receive another vaccine on Nov. 22 to complete her regiment of first year vaccines. She will need additional house and leash training. Her adopter must agree to having Chilli spay once she reaches 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 12, 2024, 9:34 am

Oddly, at such a young age, he doesn't seem to be too fond of cats, but simply loves people and other dogs. His very friendly personality makes him a great candidate as a family companion. The woman asked for our help in caring for and placing the pups and we were more than glad to help. After his wounds were treated by a vet, Chance was kept separate from his siblings until he healed and given extra TLC by the woman. During that time, Chance began to learn his house training and other "indoor" dog skills. He also loves to play catch and, according to his foster mom "...very sweet and just precious".
