What makes a good dog? Friendliness? A sense of humor? Good training? Cuteness? Cuddle-ability? Kid-friendliness? All of the above? Tootsie Roll is a good dog by any measure, and lucky for you, she’s looking for love! Tootsie Roll is estimated to be around 3 years old, and we believe she’s a pit bull, Staffordshire terrier mix. She is a rescue, so these are just our best-educated-guesses. Tootsie currently weighs in at a squishy 74 pounds, her foster mom lovingly acknowledges that “she could drop a dress size.” She’s a low to medium energy dog, friendly with everyone she meets, just a perfect little companion pittie looking for forever love. She intermingles with her foster mom’s personal dogs, “Tootsie has always gotten along with the other dogs in my home. They are a 1/4 of her size though (weenie dogs).” She adds, “My extended family and their Goldendoodle came to stay after hurricane Beryl hit and Toots was the perfect co-hostess.” Her foster mom reports that she’s wonderful with other animals as well- “she enjoys the company of farm animals such as horses, goats, chickens and rabbits should there ever be a need for that skill!” Tootsie shares toys and treats graciously with her foster siblings. Here at the rescue, Tootsie was amazing with the new rescue dogs that she met, and unfazed seeing horses and donkeys. We think Tootsie would do great in a home with other mellow, easy going dogs like herself. In her foster home, Tootsie has proven her house manners! She seems to be potty trained and doesn’t have indoor accidents in her foster home. She does well in her crate, and will get in for a treat! Tootsie is a huge fan of the couch, and she adores soft and comfy dog beds, but her favorite place to sleep is in bed with her pawrents! Tootsie is polite and will wait until she’s invited- the first time. She’s such a snuggle bug. Tootsie’s foster mom writes, “She is so friendly and gentle with every person she meets. Her circle of friends include a 2 year old toddler and a 93 year old great grandpa. and greets people with a whole body wiggle” We believe that Tootsie could do well as a family dog, she would love to have some kids around! Tootsie doesn’t jump or push, she’s a polite and gentle girl. Tootsie loves to play but she is also a skilled lounger. Tile, hardwood, carpet, grass, sidewalks, on top of her person, are all Tootsie approved relaxation stations. Tootsie’s favorite hobbies are sunbathing, car rides, jaunts around the neighborhood with her humans. She’s a simple, easy to please girl. She asked us to include that she really loves belly rubs! Tootsie is such a good girl, and so much love and training has been poured into her already. This sweet girl has her basic commands down pat, she’s good on leash and so respectful. Meeting Tootsie for the first time is truly magical, she’s such a happy and loving girl. Tootsie has waited far too long already, she’s ready for her forever home! Qbert is a total meathead, meatball, chubby bubby heartthrob, and a total sweet heart. His looks are unmatched and undeniable. He is probably the most handsome dog that has ever come into our program. I immediately fell in love as soon as I met him but I am also a sucker for meatheads. His looks speak for its self and his meathead and gorgeous eyes are just a few of the many reasons why we love him. He's got a big personality to match his aesthetic and his personality is out of this world! He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Qbert is very dog friendly and loves other dogs! He plays like a big boy to match his big boy personality. He has a playful "rough and tumble" play style with his doggy friends that matches that big personality he has. He might barrel into a game with a little too much enthusiasm, but his intentions are all about having a good time. He's the type of boy that will use his paws and his whole body when he is playing, bouncing and rolling around in those wrestling matches and is always up for a fun game of chase too. He is definitely a character when he is playing and there will be no shortages of laughter with this guy and his goofy playful antics. His best friend that he loves to play with is a playful and goofy female that can match his playful rowdy spirit and isn't phased by his big boy wrestling matches.If you have a dog whose play-style could be described as rough and rowdy, Qbert would love to be their new bestie. Qbert isn't all play all the time either, he knows when it's time to take a play break and also appreciates hanging out in the yard with his doggy friends enjoying the fresh air. If you don't have another dog, that's okay too! Qbert is not the type that needs another dog in the home to help him feel comfortable or open up, he is a happy and confident boy all on his own and will be just fine being your one and only. When it comes to training, Qbert loves treats and will do anything for a tasty snack! He already knows how to sit, is crate and potty trained, and walks well on a leash, even with his size. He will be a great dog to take with you on hikes, walks at the park, or even trips to the beach because he loves water! So bonus points if you have a pool or a pound in your backyard. If you don't have either of those, he will be just as happy with a little kiddie pool to romp around in. His ideal home would have a backyard where he can zoom around, play with his toys, and sunbathe during those nice summer days. He loves people and is a social butterfly, so if you're someone that likes to host, have friends over for backyard BBQ's, Qbert will be right there in the midst of all the entertainment. Here is your Chance! Your chance at the ultimate beefcake! He truly has one of the cutest beefcake faces with an all-star smile. He is more than his good looks though, he is your classic bully boy—chill and playful, with aspirations for lap-dog life. Age and breed are details we cannot guarantee given he is a rescue but everything from his looks to his personality lead us to believe he is an American bully mix of some sort. Sure he isn’t your typical “lapdog” size but he knows that so he approaches snuggles gently and carefully, you will never see him come barreling in for love. Honestly, he is so respectful he often will wait until you make the first move before getting in close. His signature move though is what we call the love lean, if you are standing or even sitting really, he will lean his weight into your legs in the quiet, loving way. He wants to be touching without interrupting you or being too demanding. We love it, it feels like a hug. The ideal home for Chance would be a home with a yard and if it was up to him he would love to be the center of attention but if not, he would enjoy a playful, easygoing female. Without another dog chances are he will get a steady stream of new toys and he is going to love that! The day that we met him he showed us his love of toys, had a blast playing with a group of people and showed off that he will fetch a toy and bring it right back to you. An apartment with shared walls isn’t best as he can use his voice on occasion and we don’t want any noise complaints on account of this lover boy. A condo/townhome is a possibility, he doesn’t need a yard as long as he is getting regular walks for his physical health and chances to socialize for his mental health. No kitties for Chance though, he was introduced to our house cat and he was very interested in meeting him in a way that we recognize as the overly eager curiosity that leads to chasing and chasing leads to chaos and an unhappy cat. As for kids, he’d do best in a home with older ones (10+) he’s a solid boy and could accidentally knock over a little one. When he met a very wiggly and giggly four year old he was happy to get love from him and was so patient and unbothered by his yelling and little kicks on his belly while they were snuggled up. Chance is fostered in a home with a single woman and she praises the comforting presence he gives her. Not only the love and snuggles, but when on a walk or while she sits at the charging station for her electic vehicle, his size and looks alone have a major bodyguard effect. His name is Blu only because it's his color, not because he has got the saddies, in fact he fights away any blues. If you love the big boys with simple ways, Blu is going to go right for your heart. Take him for a pup cup and experience the politeness, patience, and sweetness for yourself. With a dog like him it is hard to know where to start but lets get the “business” out of the way- Blu is estimated to be 3 years old and is possibly a Staffie/pitbull mix but given he is a rescue we cannot offer his age or breed with 100% certainty. Those are just details, what really matters is the heart of him, and thats one big ol’ loving heart. On leash, Blu forgets he is a big boy in the sense that he needs the occasional reminder that y’all are walking together, when he gets a little power up he can pull but he is receptive to corrections simply being reminded that he is on leash. He is a big, lovable guy who is eager to learn and treat motivated, a combination that will make him receptive to learning new skills by your side. When passing another dog he will show interest but he is not going to insist on meeting them or give them much more than a friendly glance and maybe an excited body wiggle. Blue does know sit and is very patient when waiting for a treat, with a soft mouth once he is allowed to take it from your hand. Blu was introduced to a few new dogs to get a feel for his play style and the type of dogs that he makes connections with. During on-leash greetings he was polite with an obvious happy enthusiasm to meet a new friend. Once they met, each and every time we expected him to turn all that happy wiggle into a play session with his new friend but instead, he walked off, strutted is more like it. From there he was easy-company, happily grazing with the dogs, sharing treats, or simply walking along together. He may not have a super playful side but he is a great companion that isn’t pushy or insistent. We loved seeing his approach with a small, almost spicy little bully mix who wanted to make it very clear she was confident and not in the mood for any funny business if he was thinking about it. Whether he was or not, who knows, but he received the message with full respect like a confident male would. An ideal home for Blu would be one where he is either joining an easy-going female as a companion or coming home to be your one-and-only. He gets so much fulfillment from the connection with his people that he does not need a dog to be satisfied. Cozy places to nap, treats and a steady supply of toys paired with belly rubs and a few smooches is his version of heaven. No cats for Blu though, he is a bit too interested, looking at them almost like he isn’t sure if that is just a fun new toy. Either way, he would approach it all wrong and that is no fun for anyone. A home with a yard would be ideal and given his size and love for toys, older kids would be best. Older kids have steady legs and don’t leave toys laying around that Blu could confuse as a new dog toy. From everything we have seen and a detail we pay close attention to when a dog is in a home- he is fully house and crate trained! Another way the slightly older dogs are such a catch Don’t let the look of Blu fool you, he is full of love and ready for forever. Questions? For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. Ohhhhh my gosh I LOVE Brisket! He’s a hunka chunka beefcake of a guy with a heart bigger than his neck! Be prepared to fall in love with this THICC sweetheart Briskey Boi! Brisket comes with a special feature that you can only unlock with booty scratches: tippy taps! He dances his back legs and bops them up and down out of pure joy! Makes me smile just thinking about it. We believe that Brisket is a pittie mix who is about 3 years old and weighs approximately 55 pounds. Due to him being a rescue, age and breed cannot be guaranteed. But that’s what makes rescue exciting! You get to have your very own unique mix of a dog! His beautiful amber eyes and his stout little body immediately stole the show! Be prepared to be showered with compliments as you take this guy out and he struts his stuff! Brisket is not only a charmer with his looks, he is also charming with his personality. When he met some of the other dogs on site, he was so good with all of them! We brought out male and females with a variety of personalities and Brisket was so chill with all of them. He’s just a guy being a dude. He’s a viber. Cool as a cucumber. He wasn’t the one to initiate a race or any roughhousing. But he was totally content with just sharing space with the other dogs. We believe Brisket would be okay with another low to medium energy dog that is has a nice blend of playfulness and chill energy. But honestly, Brisket is so independent that he would be perfectly fine as someone’s one and only. He isn’t going to attest being the sole receiver of all the love and affection, lol. Another bonus about Brisket? He is extremely mindful and gentle, taking treats and he is also kid friendly! When offered treats by numerous people, he took the treat in the same manner every time, gentle and slow. It’s like he knew that he was a big boy and needed to be extra careful with human hands. What a good boy! When he met Elijah, (11) he was in dog heaven. He just loved being showered with scratches and “good boys”. Brisket would do great in a home with older children who understand how to handle thicc doggos who appreciate affection. Brisket does not have long legs meant for galloping. But he does have a heavy step and a healthy voice. He can speak, and he doesn’t mind showing you his cool trick either! Because of this, we believe that he would do best in a home over an apartment lifestyle. He hasn’t been around any cats, but if you have a home that has a cat in it, feel free to let us know and we can see how he does in the presence of a feline. Just one look at his little face and that sweet baby nose, and your heart's already halfway gone. Bowie is as pure as they come. He is gentle, curious, a soft soul to grow with, the kind of pup that blinks up at you like you're his whole world. Every day is a brand new adventure and he's looking for someone to discover it with. If you have room for one tender-hearted baby in your life, Bowie is ready to fill that position! He's just a baby y'all. Bosni is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Don't tell him we told you this, but want to know the secret to Bowie's heart? Treats and that sweet spot right behind his ear. Those two things will have Bowie swooning over you in no time! Especially when you get to scratching that sweet spot! He starts shaking his back leg, tilts his head, and literally has a smile a his face. If you haven't watched his video, you need to because it's the cutest thing ever! He also loves treats and will do anything for a treat. He already knows how to sit and was easily guided into a down position when asked as well. He walks well on a leash and is a great car rider too. Although he may need help getting in and out. Bowie can be a little shy at first when meeting new people but once you're in his corner there's no turning back. He really loves when people take the time to get to know him and build trust with him. Which, now that you know the secrets to his heart, you'll be his favorite person before you know it. Bowie is very dog friendly and is in daily play groups which is where is thrives and has the best time ever. One of his favorite games to play is chase. You’ll see him bouncing, bobbing, weaving throughout the dogs and obstacles in the yard and is such a joy to watch. When he’s done playing, he’ll simply go off and do his own thing exploring the yard, enjoying the fresh air, or he can be found splashing around in a nearby kiddie pool. This boy loves the water and has so much fun bouncing in and out of the pool especially if his doggy friends join in on the action. He has a gentle play style with other dogs and will do best in a home with a medium energy aloof playful dog that enjoys playing chase, has a more gentle play style, and also enjoys those calmer moments as well. Bowie would thrive in a home with another dog or even a multi dog household. He really opens up the most when is around other dogs. We do believe that he would be best living in a home with another dog to help him feel comfortable and continue to build his confidence. Bowie has also been around chickens (not free roaming) and did great around them. So if you have any chickens in a coop and looking for a dog that isn't going to be pestering your flock or barking at them through the fencing, Bowie is definitely your guy. Bowie's dream home would be one that enjoys those simple moments in life, are not overly concerned with being the party house in the neighborhood, and looking for loving companion to take on leisurely walks around the neighborhood and snuggle with at night. If you're someone that works from home, Bowie will be perfectly content settling on the floor next to your feet, keeping quiet, never getting into things he shouldn't be, or keeping entertained with his doggy siblings. We do believe that he would be happiest in a home with a backyard that is not directly in the heart of a city with all the hustle and bustle. Bowie he is a gentle sensitive soul and can sometimes startle with quick unexpected movements or loud noises. He would do best in a home with older kids (14+) who respect his space and are more predicable with their movements. If younger kids visit occasionally, he’ll be just fine, as long as his home is generally relaxed. Bowie is just a sweet wittle baby that has so much to learn about the big big world. He will need a home with lots of patience and love to offer him while he settles and acclimates to your home. Bowie can handle the hustle and bustle of a household after getting to know everyone. Bowie is simply careful and thoughtful in new environments. You’ll see him taking little baby steps into new rooms getting his bearings, roaming, exploring and observing everything around him. Before you know it, he has his favorite spots, knows his routine, and has his favorite dog and/or human.
