While his brother Goose and father Maverick arrived first as strays, we soon welcomed Charlotte and IceMan into our care after learning their previous owner could no longer provide for them. IceMan is an 8-month-old American Bulldog and Cane Corso Italian Mastiff blend. Despite his somewhat rocky start, this resilient boy has shown nothing but grace, and is quickly blossoming into a magnificent young dog ready for his forever home. Because he is still young, IceMan is looking for a home that has the patience and commitment to help him continue the proper training every young puppy deserves. This includes mastering his house training, developing steady leash skills, and learning his basic manners. He has shown a peaceful attitude toward other dogs and seems to find comfort in having a canine companion to show him the ropes. If you have the time to invest in his growth and room in your heart for a loyal, big-hearted boy, IceMan will be ready to be your ultimate co-pilot soon. ** IceMan is up-to-date on vaccinations, but is awaiting his neuter surgery. He arrived at the shelter as a local stray alongside his son, Goose. After making further connections with their previous owners, who were no longer able to provide for them, we learned that Maverick is the father of Goose - and also the father of Charlotte and IceMan who also recently joined the crew. These two both arrived thin, hungry, and in need of some coat conditioning, but Maverick has proven to be a resilient soul. After some much-needed TLC, he has blossomed into a healthy, happy boy whose coat is finally regaining its shine. He has moved past his days of wandering and is now looking for a soft place to land and a family to call his own. While we are still getting to know him, he hasn't shown negative behaviors toward other dogs, so we are excited to begin more formal introductions with other potential canine companions soon. We also plan to see how he feels about feline friends in the near future. If you are looking for a steady and sweet companion to join your crew, Maverick will soon be cleared for takeoff! Porkchop is seeking a super stable home, with an experienced dog owner. He can be your couch potato partner if you bribe him with belly rubs, or your backyard companion helping to rid the yard of birds and squirrels (and tennis balls, too!). Porkchop is super food motivated, so it was easy to train him to sit and we know he'll do great learning lots of other new commands. He loves to be with his person, and can be somewhat standoffish with new people or situations. Porkchop will need to be your only dog in the home, or possibly paired with a very docile and confident larger female dog. Pushy or over friendly dogs don't mesh well with his personality. No kids or cats for Porkchop, please! Porkchop can be a vocal dog, he will talk and grumble at you to let you know what he's thinking - we think it’s pretty cute! Porkchop's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.BB is a 50lb bundle of energy who's looking for the right home to help him shine. This affectionate pup is a fun-loving, loyal guy who is eager to learn and share adventures. BB is a fairly easy walker who enjoys exploring the park and splashing around in natural waters (pools just aren't really his thing). He would thrive with someone who's home more often than not - he's not a huge fan of being left in his kennel for long stretches. BB has lots of enthusiasm for life and would do best with the company of a playful dog companion, close to his size that is confident and calmer than he is. However, he would also do well as an only pet. When it comes to other animals, he is not a match with smaller dogs or cats. We aren't exactly sure what BB's breed mix is, our volunteers have speculated that he sort of looks and acts like an XL Boston Terrier! Pictures don't do this cutie justice, he really is adorable! This boy is very food motivated and already knows "sit" and "shake." He loves to play ball and his own version of "catch me if you can," but he is also pretty good about giving up his toys when asked. He is still working on staying calm and keeping four paws on the ground, but with consistency and positive reinforcement, he'll make great progress. With that being said, he would not be a match for a home with young children. With the right outlet for his energy and plenty of love, BB will make a fun and loyal companion. BB's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives. Also included in the adoption fee is a free basic training course at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha.
