Meet Rocky! Rocky is the sweetest senior bulldog mix that you’ll ever meet. Rocky was an unclaimed stray from animal control before he came to us. He is believed to be approximately 10yrs old. He loves attention and cuddling . Rocky has been good with the dogs he has met here at LHS and enjoys romping in the yard with them. Sadly , Rocky has not had an easy life. He was poorly bred and has a very wide stance. Rocky has arthritis in his joints which affects the way he walks. He doesn’t let that get him down, he still trots around enjoying life . Rocky is currently taking joint supplements and pain medication that he will need to continue. We are looking for an owner who will make sure he lives his life as comfortable as possible. His new home should have few or no steps that he would have to navigate. Rocky needs to be loved and spoiled. My name is Dozer and I am a big hunk & very handsome!!! I am about 2 years old and I weigh 75 lbs. I was found as a dumped dog on a road in the middle of no-where. I am happy that I was able to be saved and brought into the shelter....as I am very spoiled here! I absolutely LOVE to run around in the play yard....I am actually `zooming` around and kicking up my heels...I am just soooo happy to acgt silly and have a good time too!!!

Sometimes life changes, and sadly that’s how Jeremy Chubbs finds himself back at NCCR, through no fault of his own. He’s a little rounder these days, but still the same affectionate, easygoing guy. Chubbs is now around 2 years old and believed to be an American Bulldog mix. He is house trained and has a big, lovable presence. Chubbs bonds closely with his people and would do best in an adult home where he can be the only dog. Jeremy Chubbs (aka Jerry, J.C., or Chubbers), is a big guy who originally arrived at NCCR on 5/21/25 after being found as a stray, but was adopted and then returned on 1/3/26 due to some changes in the circumstances at home. Chubbs is super friendly with people, although he can be protective of his home and family toward strangers. The family who initially found him shared that he was even good with their cats. Like many young dogs, at only around 2 years old, J.C. does enjoy a good chew session, so a little puppy-proofing at home would go a long way in keeping him happy and your shoes safe. He may be “too much dog” for small children, and is ok with some other dogs but would prefer to be your only canine companion at home, so a kid-free, dog-free home is preferred, but he is sure to make any special requirements seem easy to accommodate in exchange for the amount of entertainment & love he’ll bring into your life! He has the classic bully stubborn streak and prefers to have things his way, so he will need some kind but firm patience in his new home. If you’re looking for an affectionate and funny companion who will greet you with joy every day, Jeremy Chubbs might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for! *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
