Story
Roko is a pretty happy little bulldog type dog who seems unbothered by life situations. Barking neighbor dogs, meh. People all around, pet me and go on your way humans. Touching his ears just don’t, but maybe some great ear massages will change his mind. Snacks, yes please. Food also yes please, anything, anywhere, any time. He doesn’t seem to be particular with food, treats or toys but remember that he hasn’t been in your setting so proceed with caution please, just in case. When he’s really into a particular toy you may have to bribe him with food to take it away, like a squeaky toy that’s driving you crazy. Children- does not actively chase or engage in a negative manner, if he figures out they usually have food he may become more interested in the shorter, human, food dispenser variety. Roko hasn’t shown us any negative behaviors with other dogs, he’s blended in wherever he goes and came with his buddy Ralphie who couldn’t walk but Roko never left his side. Roko is just an easy going little bully dude with short legs, wide body, little ambition but does enjoy a walk in the park. Being a short snouted variety his tolerance of heat is not much, he’s ready to be inside and unlikely to require much activity outside until temperatures get below 70. He’s white and may require sunscreen if you take him out for very long. Roko is just a very happy little 60-pound guy with the cutest little strut you’ve ever seen. HISTORY Roko and Ralphie were found dumped on the side of a country road beyond Pasco, alone on a blind curve off in the cheat grass and dried brush beyond the ditch. No food, no blankets, no water anywhere. We have no idea how long they were there but seemed to be in good condition other than Ralphie couldn’t walk or stand and Roko had wounds filled with maggots on the back of his neck and some on his side the vets think may have been dog bites but can’t confirm. He’s a very well-mannered dog for being dumped and abandoned like that. Roko is located in Richland, Wa. We advertise our dogs in a variety of locations in an effort to improve their chances of finding great homes. We can assure you, this pup is well worth a road trip! SOCIALIZATION Seems to be well socialized with dogs and people, cats are unknown as are birds, livestock, goats or bunnies and other small animals. We’ve not tested him with children directly but he seems to love everyone and being the center of attention is his favorite thing. He’s fostered with 2 bigger dogs, stayed in another foster with barking dogs next door as well as resident dogs who attempted to instigate yelling through the door and Roko declined. He enjoys time outside in a securely fenced yard but may try to challenge the fence if you leave him alone for too long but has been alone outside and returns to the porch. Describe the ideal home as we believe it to be. Roko would thrive with structure but not too much. He would play outside in cool temperatures or snooze on the sofa while you binge your favorites, just don’t forget the snacks. He should be fine in a multi person home and should be great around kids but younger ones who would try climbing on him wouldn’t be a good idea and In general just isn’t a good situation even with the best dog ever. He needs a yard with shade, doggie door would be fabulous (he told me to look for that), someone to take him on walks once in a while or take him places if they stay aware of the conditions and temperatures. He travels well in the car but needs a ramp or boost up into taller vehicles but truthfully who doesn’t want to wrestle his perfect little bum into the car. Roko has been eating and sleeping in his large plastic crate and can continue to do so or may enjoy snuggling on your bed or being on the sofa. He would rather hang with his people but a doggie companion wouldn’t hurt his feelings either. Roko isn’t a big barker and we have questioned his guard dog abilities so don’t expect him to show any potential threats anything but the refrigerator or possibly trip them by laying his solid potato body in their path but that’s probably the best you’re going to get out of him. I think maybe he barked a couple times in 2 weeks. TRAINING He is house trained, does just fine on a leash but putting the harness and collar on is a bit of a process due to his injuries we are hoping with some positive experiences that will change. He may know commands we’re unaware of. HEALTH STATUS Roko will be neutered soon, has been vaccinated and microchipped, and treated for parasites. He appears to be in good health, and weighs around 60 lbs. Based on available information, we’ve designated FURTHER INFORMATION You will find more photographs in Roko’s Facebook album at: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BfA9MzYsU/ Roko’s adoption fee is $400. Story
I adopted him a little over a year ago from a foster. I think he’s around 3 years old. He seemed pretty okay at the foster. He would be ideal in an only dog household. He doesn’t share toys including yard sticks, he is dog aggressive when it comes to toys. He is boundary aggressive. He does behave well with a training collar on. I believe he is trainable, however I am relocating. He’s very cuddly, he loves to sleep on the bed, he will hangout on the couch, he will follow you room to room if you’re doing chores. Loves sprinklers and water. He’s okay with ducks. Hates squirrels, deer, anything that runs away. Always willing to go on a ride in the car. Doesn’t destroy the house. Does need very durable toys. Could use training on leash and recall. Very lovable dog, doesn’t deserve to die, unfortunately, after getting him I realized I’m unable to give him a second chance. Hopefully someone can give him a third
