Story
Sometimes life changes, and sadly that’s how Jeremy Chubbs finds himself back at NCCR, through no fault of his own. He’s a little rounder these days, but still the same affectionate, easygoing guy. Chubbs is now around 2 years old and believed to be an American Bulldog mix. He is house trained and has a big, lovable presence. Chubbs bonds closely with his people and would do best in an adult home where he can be the only dog. Jeremy Chubbs (aka Jerry, J.C., or Chubbers), is a big guy who originally arrived at NCCR on 5/21/25 after being found as a stray, but was adopted and then returned on 1/3/26 due to some changes in the circumstances at home. Chubbs is super friendly with people, although he can be protective of his home and family toward strangers. The family who initially found him shared that he was even good with their cats. Like many young dogs, at only around 2 years old, J.C. does enjoy a good chew session, so a little puppy-proofing at home would go a long way in keeping him happy and your shoes safe. He may be “too much dog” for small children, and is ok with some other dogs but would prefer to be your only canine companion at home, so a kid-free, dog-free home is preferred, but he is sure to make any special requirements seem easy to accommodate in exchange for the amount of entertainment & love he’ll bring into your life! He has the classic bully stubborn streak and prefers to have things his way, so he will need some kind but firm patience in his new home. If you’re looking for an affectionate and funny companion who will greet you with joy every day, Jeremy Chubbs might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

Story
Hi there! My name’s Burt, and if you’re looking for a big ol’ cuddlebug with a heart the size of Texas, I think we just became best friends. I’m 92 pounds of pure sweetness, 2 years young, and I’ve got a tail that wags like it’s powered by joy itself. I’ve been told I’m one of the best boys around other dogs, and not to toot my own horn (okay, maybe just a little!), but I take that compliment seriously. Big dogs, little dogs, wild pups, chill seniors, I get along with everyone. I know how to play gently, give space when it’s needed, and keep the peace like a four-legged diplomat. One time I shared a kennel with a goofy cattle dog who didn’t quite know what “personal space” meant… and guess what? I took it all in stride. That’s just how I roll. Kids? Love 'em. Cats? No problem. I walk like a gentleman on a leash, and yep — I’m fully house-trained. I’ve even been living with a Great Dane buddy who makes me look small (which is hard to do), and we’re total pals. If you’re looking for a gentle giant who will be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your all-around best friend, then I’m your guy. Come meet me, and let’s start our next chapter together. With love (and a happy tongue flop), Burt 🐾 Burt is located in Erie County, Pennsylvania, with an adoption fee of $275.
