Story
Name: Rocky Breed: American Eskimo Age: ~ 4 years Weight: 20 lbs Before OMD: Surrendered to a local animal control due to a change in his owner’s living situation. Energy Level: Zero or 100. There’s really no in between! He’s either happily lounging around doing absolutely nothing or zooming through the house like a lunatic, usually convincing his foster pittie brother to join in the fun. What We Love Most: His larger-than-life personality! He’s incredibly loyal, smart, funny, and absolutely full of character. Even his trainer couldn’t help but say, “I love this dog.” What He Loves Most: Food! If it’s edible, he’s interested. He also loves playtime, adventures, and hanging out with his people. Working On: He’s a smart guy who sometimes thinks he knows best. He doesn’t always take correction well and, if you give him an inch, he’ll happily take a mile. He’ll thrive with an adopter who provides consistent boundaries, structure, and continued training. He has also shown resource guarding around food, so he’ll need a quiet space to enjoy his meals. Dogs: Maybe. He happily lives with his foster Pittie brother, but he has been overly dominant with certain small dogs. Slow, appropriate introductions, and boundaries, are important. Cats: Likely okay, but not formally tested. Kids: No, 16+ only House Trained: Mostly… when he feels like it. A consistent routine will help him continue to improve. Crate Trained: Yes! He crates well but may occasionally voice his opinion about it. A Few More Things: He’s typically social, happy, and eager to meet new people. While he’s friendly, he isn’t your typical “easy first dog.” He’ll do best with someone who appreciates the breed’s quirks and will provide the leadership he needs. In return, you’ll get a loyal, entertaining, fluffy best friend with a whole lot of personality. Rocky is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. He’s available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If interested, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
