Story
Name: 마음 (Maeum) Age: Estimated 3 years old Gender: Male Weight: 13 lbs Breed: Mixed breed Neutered: Neutered (recovered from heartworm) Vaccination: Completed 4th round Relationship with Adults: Maeum is a bit fearful of all adults, but he particularly loves female humans. He has experienced trauma from male humans, so he needs more time to build trust with them. He's been living in a foster home for 8 months, and he's still afraid of men, but with patience, he will likely adjust well. Relationship with Children: Maeum is scared of children as they have thrown stones at him in the past. However, he doesn't reject their touch and can get along with children in the same household. Relationship with Other Dogs: He is not very interested in other dogs and can be fearful of both large and small dogs. Sometimes he may show interest in bigger dogs if they have a similar body language, but caution is advised as he's still learning social skills. Relationship with Cats: Maeum is also scared of cats but doesn't pay much attention to them. He is a considerate and gentle dog, so he may get along well with cats once he's familiar with them. House Training: Initially, Maeum may do some marking until he fully adjusts, but currently, he has no bathroom accidents. He tends to lift his leg and urinate, so using longer pee pads against the wall is a good idea. Energy Level: He is extremely gentle and timid, not prone to accidents or mischief. He is quite fearful of loud noises and toys that make noise. Separation Anxiety/Barking: Maeum has some separation anxiety because he loves human interaction. He may show signs of it in the first few minutes but can wait quietly when left alone. He rarely barks, except when he's happy to see people. Affection and Petting: He loves being petted and cuddled. Walking: Maeum enjoys walks and walks calmly. He may be uncomfortable in unfamiliar places or around loud noises, especially when children are playing with balls nearby. Escape Possibility: Maeum doesn't try to leave the side of those he trusts (typically females). There's very little chance of him running away, but caution is advised when outside. Rescue Story: Maeum spent a long time as a stray dog, living in a large open space with other dogs. He endured harsh weather conditions, facing extreme cold in winter and scorching sun in summer. He had no shelter and had to deal with mosquito swarms every evening. Despite this, he greeted people who came to feed him, but some cruel individuals cut his leash and chased him away. A few days later, he was found at a shelter, rescued, and brought to safety. He's an incredibly sweet dog despite the hardships he's faced. Please note that Maeum's past experiences have left him with some fears and anxieties, so it's essential to provide him with a patient and loving environment to help him heal and adjust. Please apply at www.welcomepawsrescue.org. This pet is currently in Korea but can fly to Lax, JFK, DFW, Chicago, SFO, SeaTac, DC, Boston, ATL, Vancouver and Toronto upon the adoption.

Kelsey came to us with a horrific flea infestation, infections in her eyes, severe periodontal disease, and had mammary tumors. She was missing about half her fur. After treatment and surgery, the mammary tumors are completely gone, the periodontal disease is resolved, and her fur grew in beautifully. Her eyes no longer have infections, but she is blind. Kelsey gets eye drops for inflammation twice a day and she is very cooperative. She is also deaf. Despite her disabilities, Kelsey navigates the house and the yard quite well . She can use a ramp and can step up or down from the patio to the yard. Kelsey does her business in the backyard, but will not ask to go out if she is in the house so she wears a diaper when she is not supervised. Here is Bori🐶💕 who was rescued from a Mass Dog Slaughterhouse with other 101 friends. Bori has a million-dollar smile so he was given a nick name, “Smiley Bori.” He has a gentle heart. When a volunteer forgot to give Bori a special treat, “Cow Horn Snack,” he did not complain and just watched his friends’ happiness of having their treats with longing expression on his face. 😉 With his sweetness, Bori would make a great addition to any home! He's in professional training school to learn basics. He will be a great fit to your home😊

Story
Meet Honey! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 4 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Honey was abused in the farms, and someone poked one of her eyes out with a hot cattle iron.  Amazingly she doesn't hold any ill will towards people for this horrific act, and is just as sweet and loving as can be.  Honey and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app April 26, 2024, 1:25 pm

Story
Buddy here! Age: 8 years young Neutered and vaccinated. Learning basic commands Good on a leash Love to walk. (New foster needed) Buddy was found as a stray April 23, 2023, in South Gate under neglected conditions. His coat was completely matted and was full of feces and urine. His nails were so long and bloody that he was no longer able to walk properly because of the pain. When Buddy was found he was terrified of people. No one could get near him because he would react. It's been months since Buddy was found and sheltered. Sadly no one claimed him. He was recently assessed by a professional trainer and Buddy showed potential to be adopted with some TLC. Buddy is looking for a low traffic home, preferably no kids. Buddy can be a bit scared at first, but he is all in once he opens up! He absolutely loves walks and to run at the park. #adoptaseniorpet Please consider adopting a senior dog. Buddy deserves to know what it is like to have a loving and caring family.
