Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This adorable little boy was picked up as a stray in Kentucky, so we know absolutely nothing about his past.  But we've learned a lot about him while he has been in our care!    He is very affectionate and loves to be with his human(s) at all times.    He's about 8 years old, and weighs 23#.   We think he prefers to be the only dog in the home.  Initially we thought he would probably enjoy having a canine friend to play with (one who will likely allow him to be alpha), but now we think he would prefer to be an 'only child'.   He's curious about cats, but hasn't bothered the cats in his foster home. Auggie does great on a leash, he's good in the car, house trained and will let you know when he has to go outside and potty.  He easily uses doggie stairs to get up into bed, and he's a great couch companion.  Like many Eskies, he is vocal and slightly demanding at times when he wants something.   He loves his food, and even loves frozen green beans as a treat!  He's currently on a prescription canned food to keep crystals from forming in his urine, which he loves.  It's readily available at Chewy and in pet stores.    (he has a written script for the food, which we will give to adopter).  He does best on soft and canned foods, due to the fact that he had severe periodontal disease when we got him.  He had multiple cracked, broken, and missing teeth, and the vet gave him a 4/4 score for his dental condition.  We usually see that when dogs have spent a lot of time chewing on kennel bars, or trying to eat rocks.   When Auggie had his dental done, most of his teeth were removed, and we're sure he's feeling so much better now because of that.   If you have any questions about Auggie, please contact Cheryl@eskierescuers.org.  Or complete our online Adoption Application, the link is part way down this page: https://www.eskierescuers.org/info/display?PageID=21057  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hey there!  I'm Portia, a happy and playful pup looking for my forever home here in sunny Florida! A Little About Me:      •Newly Confident:   I've come a long way from being a shy girl!  Now, I warm up to new people after a couple of meetings.  Once I trust you, I'll be your biggest fan and will happily soak up all the love and attention you can give.      •Playtime Enthusiast:  I love to play with my toys!  You'll often find me throwing them around and fetching them all by myself.  Dental chews are a favorite of mine, and I get super excited when it's time to open 'presents' -- that's when I get to dig into paper towel rolls stuffed with treats!      •  I also like playing with other dogs that are my size or smaller (I've never met a dog that's bigger or any other type of animal).      •  Cuddle Bug:  I adore being petted and cuddling.  I like to stay close to my humans, even if we're just enjoying some quiet time together.  I'm also a fan of being brushed and am okay with nail trims and baths.   My Skills:              •  I've learned a bunch of commands and love to show them off for treats!  I know how to come when called, sit nicely, go to a 'place' which can be a mat, bed, or towel on the floor.  I will put my head through the harness or slip leash or collar to make it easy for you to get it on.  I do a really good down.  I can't wait to impress you with my skills.        •  I enjoy having a cozy crate that I can retreat to for a nap.  If you want me to go in there, all you have to do is say the magic word, and I'll happily go in there.        •  Expert at going to potty on training pads.   A Few Things to Consider:        •  Outdoor Adventures:  While I'm still getting used to the great outdoors and can be a little anxious out there, I've started to sniff the grass and enjoy the fresh air.  With a patient and encouraging friend by my side, I know I'll learn to love it more.  For now, I'm fully potty trained on training pads, which is super convenient, especially during Florida's rainy days!      •  For now, you'll have plenty of space indoors for me to play.  I'm so excited to find a loving family that understands my journey and can help me grow even more.  If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who's ready to play and snuggle, then I'm your girl! Let's make some wonderful memories together! Ready to meet me?  If you think you could be my perfect match, I can't wait to meet you!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - LUNA OF SARASOTA, FL    Luna is an adorable, playful and spunky girl who wants to be an 'only child'.   She's a terrific dog, energetic and healthy, who loves people; but she's not been socialized with other dogs and doesn't react well to them. She barks and wants them to stay away from her, although she eventually adjusted well with several small dogs in her foster home.  She's curious about other dogs but not ready for interaction with them, especially with male dogs.  She should probably be the only pet in the home. She has a strong prey drive and loves to chase squirrels, so a fully fenced yard is essential.    Luna is smart and clever; she learns quickly and needs an Eskie-savvy adopter that has time to train and socialize her. She was friendly with the children next door to the foster home but would probably prefer a home without children.   She's an Eskie mix with naturally short hair, a curled tail and brown ears, so she's very low maintenance and could be the perfect dog for someone that loves the eskie intelligence and personality, without needing to brush as often.    Luna loves playing ball (will even bring it back to you!), going for car rides, and watching TV with her foster mom. She's leash trained, house trained, well-behaved when left home alone, weighs 29 pounds, and is 3 years old. Luna is looking forward to her new beginning!   If you have any questions about Luna, please send an e-mail to: Cheryl@eskierescuers.org.  To submit an adoption application for Luna, please complete and submit our online Adoption Application.  You'll find the link for it partway down this page on our website: https://www.eskierescuers.org/info/display?PageID=21057   For more information and to see more pics of Luna, please click on this link to learn more about her: https://www.eskierescuers.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=21671697 Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out our dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where they're being fostered).  Please note that ERU processes local applications before considering those that are farther away.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
