Story
Meet Harold Male DOB: June 14, 2023 Weight: 26 pounds (medium small) Breed: Parson Russell Terrier Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccines: Up to Date Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Harold is a friendly, happy-go-lucky dog with a loving personality and a heart full of affection. At 3 years old, he has the perfect balance of maturity and energy, making him an excellent companion for a variety of homes and lifestyles. Harold enjoys spending time with people and has an easygoing nature that helps him make friends wherever he goes. Whether he's joining you on walks, relaxing at home, or simply enjoying time with his family, Harold is happiest when he is included and loved. As a Parson Russell Terrier / American Eskimo Mix, Harold will be an intelligent, playful, and affectionate companion with a lively personality and a deep love for their family. This breed mix often combines the Parson Russell Terrier's confidence, curiosity, and adventurous spirit with the American Eskimo Dog's intelligence, loyalty, and eagerness to please. The result is a bright, engaging dog that enjoys both learning and spending time with the people they love. These dogs thrive on companionship and enjoy being involved in everyday family life. They are quick learners who respond exceptionally well to positive reinforcement training and benefit from activities that challenge both their mind and body. Daily walks, interactive play, puzzle toys, and training sessions help keep them happy, confident, and well-balanced. A Parson Russell Terrier / American Eskimo Mix would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily exercise and active play Continued positive reinforcement training Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Plenty of companionship and family interaction A lifelong commitment to their emotional and physical well-being With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, a Parson Russell Terrier / American Eskimo Mix grows into a loyal, well-mannered, and devoted companion who enjoys both exciting adventures and relaxing with their forever family. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even friendly and well-adjusted dogs benefit from continued guidance, consistency, and positive reinforcement after adoption. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Harold will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, rescue dogs like Harold blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Harold will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, emotional stability, proper nutrition, and daily companionship are all essential to helping Harold thrive in his future home. Harold is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Meet Muchacho! 🐾Muchacho is a 9-year-old, 5 lb little guy with a gentle heart and the cutest constantly wagging tail. He entered our program with his brother, Angelito, who is also available for adoption. While they can be adopted separately, we would love to see them find a home together if the perfect family comes along.Muchacho can be a little timid at first, but once he warms up, he is extremely loving and happy to be near his people. He may not be the biggest kiss-giver, and he definitely has his own favorite ways and spots he likes to be pet, but that just makes him even more charming. When he has had enough attention, he will politely zoom away and take a little break!Muchacho’s tail wags anytime you look at him, talk to him, or say one of his many nicknames — Mooch, Moo, Moochi, or MooMoo. He can be a little picky with meals, but once he finds something he likes, he eats well. He also enjoys calm outings in a carry bag and will settle right in for a cozy nap while he tags along with his person.Muchacho is young at heart and, while he is not super interested in toys, he may try to play with other small dogs. He would do well in a calmer home with other small adult or senior dogs and would love humans who are home often or who would enjoy bringing him and Angelito along for quiet adventures.More than anything, Muchacho is looking for a patient, loving home where he can feel safe, nap often, and wag his little heart out. 💙Muchacho is being fostered near Austin, Texas. We offer nationwide adoptions and transport *Pleade visit our website, www.longwayhome.org/adopt, to sumbit an application! To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.

Meet Angelito! 🐾💙Angelito is an 11-year-old, 5 lb little guy with the sweetest heart and a joyful, loving personality. He entered our program with his brother, Muchacho, who is also available for adoption. While they can be adopted separately, we would love to see them find a home together if the perfect family comes along.Angelito can be a little shy at first, but once he feels safe, he is all about pets, belly rubs, kisses, and snuggles. He even likes to bring his favorite toys to his people because he thinks they might love them as much as he does!Even though Angelito is a senior gentleman, he still has a playful and curious spirit. He enjoys squeaky toys, mealtime, cozy beds, and being right next to his people. He also loves plenty of naps in between all of his little adventures and would be happy to join his person for calm, safe outings in a carry bag.Angelito is patient with grooming, even though it is not his favorite activity, and he does well with occasional ear cleanings. He goes potty outside and also uses puppy pads indoors without having accidents off the pads. He would do well in a calmer home and could live with other small adult or senior dogs, though younger or larger dogs may be a little overwhelming.More than anything, Angelito is looking for a loving home where he can feel safe, stay close to his people, get lots of tummy rubs, and spend his golden years surrounded by love. 💙To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.
