Story
I think the best way to describe Flash may be to call him an “independent cuddlebug.” This little guy loves to snuggle up next to you for lots of belly rubs, but when he gets his fill he is perfectly content to relax on whatever comfy surface he finds nearby and let you work, eat, or take care of whatever you need to do. He has always slept at the foot of his owner’s bed after some well deserved cuddle time. His house manners have been excellent while he has been with his foster family. Flash has been enjoying several walks daily and meeting new people. He is excellent on a leash and an absolute joy to take out. He also loves a good car ride and seems to like exploring new places. I think he could easily attend outdoor events, etc. as long as a leash is convenient. He is not recommended for a home with small pets, but it is possible he would be fine with a calm, larger dog. I don’t know that he has been around children much, but he has met a few recently for just a few minutes and seemed fine. I believe Flash could easily thrive in multiple types of homes. He is big enough to not have some of the concerns over a small dog being fragile, but small enough to easily scoop up and carry if needed. He is such good company and I imagine would give kids, teens, and adults young and old a lot of love. His former owner was in his 90s and passed away a few months ago and he so deserves a loving forever family. He would love to poke around a fenced backyard (watch out for a gap – he is FAST) but also seems to be quite content with outdoor time on his leash. He has not shown any interest in birds but if you want to see him RUN let him spot a squirrel or rabbit. Please consider welcoming this precious boy into your family. I have no doubt that he will bring you so much joy and love.

Story
Louie was surrendered to FOR from an unfortunate home situation with several other dogs. Chihuahuas can be fearful in nature but are also known for being loving and affectionate dogs that bond with family members and Louie is no exception. Louie is a great companion dog who loves walks and cuddling with his person. Louie is shy and may be fearful with new people, but with time, he will warm up. Louie is working on house training and doing well, but accidents do happen. He lives with other dogs and cats and does well. Louie doesn't like to be crated and may whine, but with time and positive training this behavior should get better. I am unsure how Louie will react around children, therefore, children 10 and older may be a better fit. Since Louie does bark at noises, apartment living may not be the best living environment for him. He has been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm neg, and microchipped. Louie is approximately 5 yrs old, a chihuahua mix and weighs 11 pounds. If you wish to meet Louie, fill out an adoption questionnaire and his foster mom will be in touch to discuss if Louie would be a fit for your family. Louie is being fostered in Madison, AL.
