Story
Breed: Chihuahua X DOB: 2/2009 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): brown/white Description: Hi, I'm Dodger, a gentle Chihuahua X who is in need of a new home as only one dog was allowed at the new home. I guess I drew the short straw. Thankfully CARL accepted me into their program and will help me find my forever home. I'm good with other little dogs and cats too. It's unknown how I would do with children. I will let you know if I have to go outside by going to the door. I'm an older guy who can't hear or see too good, but I still have lots of love to give to my special someone. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application. *Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.April 25, 2024, 5:03 pm

Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Chihuahua X DOB: 6/2020 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): red brown/white w/some black fur Description: ***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application. ***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application.Hi, I'm Canelo, a Chihuahua X who is in need of a new home as only one dog was allowed at the new home. I guess I drew the short straw. Thank you to my sponsor who made it possible for me to come into CARL's adoption program. I know they will help me find my forever home.I need time to get to know new people, until I do I can act like a tough guy. Once I know you I enjoy my walks and being with my people.I love treats, but small treats should be given from an open palm rather than from fingers. If I think I have found a treat and you try to take it away with your fingers I will bite hard. I have no issues when being given kibble, but treats are another story. However my former foster thinks with training I can improve in this area.I love to snuggle and get belly rubs, but at night I should sleep on my own doggie bed rather than with my human. A doggie bed in your bedroom is perfect. I love to burrow under a soft blanket when I sleep and a soft fluffy throw blanket works great.I love to play with and chase little stuffed toys and might even chase after a small ball.I want to always be near my person. I would snooze on my doggie bed and play with stuffed toys while my former foster worked from home. I also enjoyed going outside to lay in the warm sun for a bit.I am potty trained, but need to be reminded/encouraged to go outside. I respond to 'go potty'.The best household for me is with no other dogs. Although I do great at the dog park and I'm fine on walks, I want my person all to myself when at home. I might be fine with a couple if both are willing to consistently be involved in my feedings, walks and playtime.I would not be good with children because I will bite if I feel threatened or there is any competition for my human and the same is true for strangers. I don't care for a lot of commotion. My former foster's son had a party for friends and I was clearly unhappy. In the right environment (where I am top dog), I am very loving, sweet, playful, and snuggly. I love to walk and I do great on a leash. I am loyal and protective. I also enjoy car rides and going to the doggie park. I am crate trained but I will not like the crate if it is used for punishment or time outs. If I'm crated, be sure to include a small soft blanket for snuggling and burrowing. I did not bark excessively while in my former foster's home and my bark was not loud and ear piercing typical of smaller dogs.If you think you can provide the right environment for me to thrive in, please submit an online application to meet me.*Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.April 25, 2024, 5:03 pm
