Breed: Chihuahua X DOB: 2/2009 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): brown/white Description: Hi, I'm Dodger, a gentle Chihuahua X who is in need of a new home as only one dog was allowed at the new home. I guess I drew the short straw. Thankfully CARL accepted me into their program and will help me find my forever home. I'm good with other little dogs and cats too. It's unknown how I would do with children. I will let you know if I have to go outside by going to the door. I'm an older guy who can't hear or see too good, but I still have lots of love to give to my special someone. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application. *Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.May 26, 2024, 2:50 pm

Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Chihuahua X DOB: 6/2020 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): red brown/white w/some black fur Description: ***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application. ***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application.Hi, I'm Canelo, a Chihuahua X who is in need of a new home as only one dog was allowed at the new home. I guess I drew the short straw. Thank you to my sponsor who made it possible for me to come into CARL's adoption program. I know they will help me find my forever home.I need time to get to know new people, until I do I can act like a tough guy. Once I know you I enjoy my walks and being with my people.I love treats, but small treats should be given from an open palm rather than from fingers. If I think I have found a treat and you try to take it away with your fingers I will bite hard. I have no issues when being given kibble, but treats are another story. However my former foster thinks with training I can improve in this area.I love to snuggle and get belly rubs, but at night I should sleep on my own doggie bed rather than with my human. A doggie bed in your bedroom is perfect. I love to burrow under a soft blanket when I sleep and a soft fluffy throw blanket works great.I love to play with and chase little stuffed toys and might even chase after a small ball.I want to always be near my person. I would snooze on my doggie bed and play with stuffed toys while my former foster worked from home. I also enjoyed going outside to lay in the warm sun for a bit.I am potty trained, but need to be reminded/encouraged to go outside. I respond to 'go potty'.The best household for me is with a female human and no other dogs. Although I do great at the dog park and I'm fine on walks, I want my person all to myself when at home. I might be fine with a couple if both are willing to consistently be involved in my feedings, walks and playtime.I would not be good with children because I will bite if I feel threatened or there is any competition for my human and the same is true for strangers. I don't care for a lot of commotion. My former foster's son had a party for friends and I was clearly unhappy. In the right environment (where I am top dog), I am very loving, sweet, playful, and snuggly. I love to walk and I do great on a leash. I am loyal and protective. I also enjoy car rides and going to the doggie park. I am crate trained but I will not like the crate if it is used for punishment or time outs. If I'm crated, be sure to include a small soft blanket for snuggling and burrowing. I did not bark excessively while in my former foster's home and my bark was not loud and ear piercing typical of smaller dogs.If you think you can provide the right environment for me to thrive in, please submit an online application to meet me.*Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.May 26, 2024, 2:50 pm

Available for foster or adopt!Breed: Chihuahua X DOB: 10/2021 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): tan/white Description: ***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application. Hi, I'm Burtha, an energetic Chihuahua X rescued from a high kill shelter where I was found as a stray. I'm grateful to CARL for giving me the chance to find my forever home.I'm shy and unsure around new people, so I may need to get to know you over a few visits. Once I get to know you I love to be held and be with my person. Best home for me would be adult only where I'd be showered with love and attention.I can get quite frisky, jumping on my long back legs. I need daily exercise. I enjoy my version of fetch and sometimes I will bring a toy back to be thrown again. I enjoy car rids too. I will try to dart out open doors at home, so care will need to be taken when opening doors and I am around.I enjoy burrowing under a blanket. I can jump higher than one may think to get onto a counter or table top. Care must be taken that I don't have access to things I shouldn't eat.I will sit and stay for a treat. I come when called unless there is something else I'd rather be doing. I need leash training. I also need to get used to being handled by more than one person. I tend to get attached to one person. If you think you can give me the life I deserve, please fill out an online application to meet me.May 26, 2024, 2:50 pm

Story
Breed: Chihuahua X DOB: 1/2013 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): tan/white Description:Hi, I'm Stewart, an affectionate Chihuahua X in need of a new home with my 'brother' Jax as our beloved owner sadly has passed away. We're a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.I'm eager to please and enjoy a comfy lap to sit in. I know come, stay and walk well on leash. I'm crate and paper trained and know how to use a doggie door. I am a complete love bug and will follow you everywhere. I love treats and food. Even with no teeth, it doesn't stop me from having a big appetite. We're older less active little guys who are good with other dogs, but it's unknown how we would do with cats. Although I'm good with children, Jax is not and we have to be adopted together. We need an adult only home with someone who is always home for us to be happy. If you have room in your heart and home for two sweet little guys, please fill out an online application to meet us.May 26, 2024, 2:50 pm

Story
Hey there, fellow critters! Just arrived at SPARC and starting to get the hang of things. The sights, smells, and sounds are a bit overwhelming at first, but the staff seems pretty trustworthy. Slowly but surely, I'm getting used to this place. Keep an eye out for updates on my bio; hopefully, it'll help me find my forever home. Excited to see what the future holds!

Story
Meet Pinky, an adorable boy with a personality that shines brighter than his eyes. Pinky is a smart and sassy dog who loves two things in life: his person and food. Yes, in that order!Pinky is a friendly and sociable dog who loves the company of his canine companions! He`s a natural socialite. However, when it comes to cats, Pinky is a bit more... uncertain. He`s never been around them in foster and may not be sure what to make of those whiskery creatures, with their independent attitudes and swishy tails. Overall, Pinky is a dog-friendly dog who`s still learning about the feline world. With patience and gentle introductions, he might just become a cat-tolerant canine – but for now, he`s happy to stick with his doggy pals!Pinky’s day begins and ends with his person. When he’s not napping, he follows her everywhere, ready to offer his expert advice on everything from cooking to couch-snuggling. Pinky’s love for food is legendary, and his taste buds are as refined as a gourmet chef`s. But really, he’ll eat anything! When it’s time to eat, he will give a joyful bark and a wagging tail.In short, Pinky is the ultimate companion dog – smart, sassy, energetic, loving, cuddly and always up for a good time (as long as there`s food involved, of course!)
