Story
Super Senior Criket is seeking some people all his own. This guy is currently residing in a Foster Home where he can have a shelter break (those yipping doggos are a bit too much for his senior nerves to take). While in his Foster Home, Criket is honing his skills to be the best doggo he can be. These skills include, posing for pics for his adoring fans and snoozing on the lawn in the sun. Criket loves to curl up in baskets to hang out. In fact, baskets spread around the house would make Criket so happy. Crikit is currently in a foster home as part of our Foster Care Program! If you are interested in giving Crikit a forever home, please call 775-856-2000 to learn more about the dog and schedule a visit. Living in a foster home is less stressful for dogs than in a shelter, providing them with individual time, attention, and care. This helps make adoptions successful by revealing their true selves at home. Potential adopters can determine if they and the dog are a good match by hearing about the dog from the foster parents. Crikit will continue hanging with his foster family, who will keep loving and nurturing his zest for life until his forever family chooses him!

Story
Johnny is a resilient cream/white Chihuahua mix, neutered and weighing a sturdy 17 pounds. Born approximately in May 2021, he's a survivor with a compelling story. Johnny's past wasn't easy; he found himself on the euthanasia list, but fate had better plans for him. In June 2023, Chihuahua Rescue came to his rescue, and it was just in the nick of time. Johnny's early experiences with humans left him wary, as he was trapped and even subjected to a catch-pole. These incidents only deepened his distrust of people, understandably so. However, Johnny does have a glimmer of hope. He may have been afraid, but he showed a promising side by accepting food from certain kind-hearted individuals. Food is his motivation, and it's a crucial tool in his rehabilitation journey. By increasing his dopamine levels through positive interactions and tasty treats, he's slowly but surely on the path to recovery. Johnny's journey to trust and happiness is ongoing. Dogs like him, who have endured rough treatment, need time and patience to heal. While he's not currently available for adoption, with the right care and environment, he has the potential to thrive. It's important to note that Johnny may not be the best fit for households with children or a lot of visitors. He'll need a safe space to retreat to when strangers are around. Keep an eye on his progress and watch as he transforms from a fearful pup to a more confident and loving companion.
