Say hello to our resident tripod, Starla! Starla came to us with very little life experience and lacking many of the life skills a dog of her age should have. Because of this, Starla is looking for a dog-savvy adopter who understands her unique needs and is committed to providing a supportive environment where she can thrive. With consistent training and positive reinforcement, she's sure to gain confidence and become more comfortable in her own fur. She was in an accident a couple years ago, which caused her to need a leg amputation. She has since healed miraculously, and it has not impacted her ability to get around in the slightest. Starla is not suited for a loud or busy home, a home with small children, puppies, or other animals. Starla has been through a lot in her three years, so what she needs most in life is a stable and calm home. Starla has a heart of gold and a playful spirit just waiting to shine. She loves nothing more than cuddling up with her favorite humans and showing off her goofy side with a game of fetch or a romp in the yard. Starla has immediately stolen the hearts of everyone here with her goofy smile and loveable personality; she's truly one of a kind. She is a very strong, active girl and it's important that adopters are able to keep her exercise needs met and are able to handle a strong dog (she's still learning her leash manners!)Due to her history, she has a tendency to be dog-reactive and needs continued support and training to help her live her most calm, relaxed life. It is extremely important that any potential adopter understands this kind of behavioral challenge and is prepared and informed. ☁️Her name Skye may evoke a light or breezy image, but in this case, it's her personality that matches the name. Skye is a human-loving 14-month-old pitbull who weighs 60 pounds, if you must ask. ❣️She goes by Skye, Skyrizi or Rizi if you're close. Common to her breed, this pooch loves her people, snuggling on the couch and adventures too! Although she loves humans, she can jump up when excited and is not aware of her size. 🐕She has shown leash reactivity with dogs, but does well when given proper introductions. Skye does pull when first out for a walk, but is learning quickly with corrections. 🐤This lady loves playing with all her toys, and also loves to chew. Anything fuzzy will be destroyed promptly. She has an ‘annoying' rubber chicken she enjoys too! Toy fluff aside, this pooch is tidy and fully potty trained. She will sit at the door to let you know she needs out. She is not a picky eater either! 😀Skye needs some coaxing to get into her kennel, but settles quickly and is happy to be in there. Skye has not been tested with kids, cats or small animals.
