Story
Meet Potter Potter is a 7-month-old mixed breed puppy who is just beginning to experience the world around him. Potter may be a bit shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and seeks comfort from trusted humans. Once he feels safe, his true personality shines. Potter is affectionate, energetic, and playful, and he genuinely enjoys being around people once he gets to know them. He loves attention and is happiest when he's close to his humans, soaking up affection and praise. Potter came to us from a situation where he wasn't exposed to a lot, so many everyday sights and sounds are still unfamiliar to him. Things like walks, cars, and loud noises can feel overwhelming at first, and he's learning how to build confidence in new environments. Training & Socialization Potter will need basic puppy training, including potty training and learning everyday manners. He will also benefit greatly from continued, positive socialization to help him become more comfortable with new sights, sounds, and experiences over time. He is making a lot of progress so far and is very food motivated and eager to learn, making him highly receptive to reward-based training. Training sessions that focus on building trust, confidence, and positive associations with the world around him will help Potter feel secure and successful. Ideal Home Potter would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with owners who can dedicate time to help him learn. He is not suited for a home with children. Potter might benefit from a confident dog in his new household but we will learn more as he meets other dogs at the shelter. A patient adopter who understands shy or under-socialized dogs and is willing to go at Potter’s pace will be rewarded with a deeply loving, affectionate, and playful companion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ready to Apply? If you would like to meet Potter, please download an application from our website at: vancouver.ca/adoption-form Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes. Children: No Cats: Maybe Dogs: Maybe Training Needs: Puppy Training and Socialization Adoption Fee: $391 If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence. Story
Chester is an approximately one‑year‑old pit bull-boxer mix with a heart as big as his goofy grin. Found as a stray, his past is a mystery, but his personality shines through. Chester is a sweet, bouncy boy who's eager to learn and even more eager to love. Chester is a strong, large‑breed dog who will benefit from continued work on his basic manners and leash skills, and he'd thrive with guidance from an AnimalKind trainer. He's very smart, food‑motivated, and always ready to please. Chester proudly considers himself a lap dog and won't hear any objections about his sizeable bum settling in for a cuddle. He seems enthusiastic about meeting other dogs and may enjoy a canine sibling, though his feelings about cats are still unknown. Because of his unknown history and energetic nature, Chester would do best with a secure, fenced property and plenty of opportunities to burn off steam. He's a wonderful young dog with tons of potential and is ready to bring joy-and a bit of silliness-into the right home.Chester is currently only available for foster-to-adopt local to the South Okanagan area as he awaits his neuter surgery. Story
FOR ADOPTION: MUPPET is a stunning approximately 1 year old, 50lb female Pitbull mix that was found abandoned in the woods with her 6 babies just before Christmas. She’s so lucky to have been found by a caring couple that was able to bring the entire family to safety. The majority of Muppet’s pups have move into their forever families and she has been fully vetted and finished testing which makes her ready to find her happily ever after. Muppet is the absolute sweetest girl with people. She loves to be loved, she’s a fantastic cuddler and she could play all day if you wanted to. Muppet is an athletic, high energy, intelligent girl that is looking for a family that will match her zest for life. If you’re an avid runner, cyclist, skier etc or if you’re looking to get competitive in dog sports such as tug pole, disc or dock diving this could be your new best friend. Muppet will go hard during any activity or adventure and once she’s home she will be all about the snuggles. She is looking for a home as an only pet as she is very selective with other dogs and has proven she will chase a cat if it runs. She has been fantastic with the 8 and 10 year old children of one of our care takers, those kids love to play just as much as she does. Muppet has been very clean in her kennel and is not overly destructive. The occasional squeak toy gets a squeakectomy but she’s never chewed on her bedding or the majority of her toys. Muppet is muzzle trained and loves going for walks. She’s also been good in the vehicle. Muppet is spayed, vaccinated and up to date on parasite control. If you’ve been looking for a rad adventure buddy or driven training partner apply today at www.NWAS.ca for a chance to meet MUPPET #NWASMuppet

Story
Meet Birdie 💗Birdie is a sweet 8-year-old pit bull with a heart as big as her smile. She's friendly with both people and other dogs, and she truly enjoys being around those who show her kindness. Birdie came into our care very skinny, but she's now on a carefully managed refeeding plan and is already showing her resilience and playful nature. She will only eat off of a plate on the floor, and will try to bury her food if given in a bowl. Despite her rough start, she remains in good spirits and eager to love. Birdie would thrive in a caring home where she can continue to gain strength, enjoy leisurely walks, and finally settle into the comfortable, loving life she deserves. Story
FOR ADOPTION: SWEETUMS is the last of our #MuppetPups left looking for her forever family. This adorable little lady is 4 months old and expected to mature around 55lbs. Her mother is in our care and is a super fun Pitbull mix, her father is completely unknown. Sweetums is a higher energy young dog that is looking for a fun and active forever family. If you’re into fun adventures like hiking, skiing, biking, running etc Sweetums would be thrilled to join you. She’s also a smart little lady that enjoys learning and will be an engaging training partner. This girl could learn to really enjoy dog sports. When she’s not exercising her mind or body Sweetums is going to want to be cuddled up with you for some chill time. Sweetums is highly people oriented, she absolutely loves everyone she meets and wants nothing more than to be able to bond deeply with her family and their friends. Sweetums is working hard on learning manners like not jumping up, once she’s mastered that she will be excellent in a home with children. Sweetums is just learning about walking on leash and has started expanding her group of canine friends now that her siblings are gone. She’s friendly and respectful with new dogs. Sweetums has had limited exposure to cats while in our care but do think she’s at a great age to move in with cats and learn to cohabitate respectfully. Sweetums has kennel training almost completely mastered and is mostly clean between our shelter shifts. The overnight stretch can sometimes be too long for her though. She’s a puppy that loves to play with everything she can but has not been overly destructive with her toys yet. Sweetums will come up to date on vaccinations and parasite control and with a spay contract in place. If you’ve been looking for a fun, active, young dog apply today at www.NWAS.ca for a chance to meet SWEETUMS #NWASSweetums

Story
Good day. I am Emerson and here is a bit about me:Breed: Pitbull terrier mixAge:  2 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 50 lbsHeight: 20 inchesCountry of origin: US, New MexicoHighlights: Zen, tolerant, steady, gentle, timid, loving, playful While I am a bit timid yet, I am loving and playful too. I'm actually kind of the zen girl.Surrendered by a man along with my sister, Debbie (also posted) to the shelter on 4/3/25. My sis  was pregnant and gave birth to three puppies the very next day. A rescue stepped up to help, but in very different ways. Debbie and her three puppies were immediately taken in by a foster Mom.  The shelter only gives dogs 14 days for adoption, and so I was to be killed on 4/18. The horror. Foster parents agreed to take me in at the last minute and so I came to their house on the 18th. Phew. In early August, Debbie's foster Mom had a family emergency, so my foster parents agreed to take Debbie and get us sisters back together. Debbie came to our house on 8/9/25. Since that time, we have blossomed. Our fosters have two dogs and all four of us get along very well, often spending our days in the sunny yard and the evenings on a warm couch by the fire.I tend to be more comfortable with my foster mom, and Debbie is more comfortable with foster dad. We love to go on walks and are leash-trained without any issues. We both know to use the dog door and have never had any accidents indoors. Our foster folks have an open-door crate available and both of us will fit ourselves in together, unless a couch is available. If we can access a couch, all bets are off!! LOL. We will sleep on one of the couches for hours, cuddling with, and sometimes sleeping on top of, each other!Me, I like to play chase with the other dogs. Run, tricky evasive moves, catch them. Lots of tail-wagging fun.We are much more comfortable with people inside our home. Out in the yard, we both still run away from our fosters, although I will come to foster mom for treats and Debbie has just recently started letting foster dad pet her outside. Basically, we have been spending our days in the yard & our evenings with in the living room, and our nights on a couch with foster dad. I love walks too. Both of us appear to be in excellent health and without any known health issues. We are both still quite timid though and cautious around people, especially during times of transition when people are moving about. We are making progress every day and our fosters are confident we will both make remarkable companions for the lucky human(s) who adopt us. Our foster has stated that we are fairly dependent on each other for feeling safe and it could take longer for us to come out of our shell and settle if adopted individually, just so you know.We will thrive with a patient, loving owner. If you happen to have znother sibling fir us, we are. Totally cool with that too. I appear trainable and smart. I am in the VERY early stages of sit and come. I know how to use a doggie door, if you have one. Extra vids: https://youtube.com/shorts/lKGLjQlLypA,  https://youtube.com/shorts/NaEE4-PyATw Energy Level: ModerateI get along with:Dogs: absolute yes.Cats: UnknownKids: Unknown Fears: Extremely cautious around people yet, especially during times when people are moving around. Please be patient with me during this transition time.Training:Leash skills:  Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home! Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Our adoption fee is $1300.00 CAD plus applicable taxes for both of us. This includes out transportation to the Border of Canada and the US.Additional health notes:5/22/25: Respiratory Disease (CRD) RealPCR Panel (Comprehensive) all negative (11 organisms).5/27/25: 4DX testing (heartworm, Lyme, anaplasmosis, tick-born disease) negative.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper. ##2640691##
