Story
Meet Joy. Don't you just love that face?!? Joy is a 5 year old Pitbull. Joy is very sweet and beautiful girl! She adores people and is eager for affection. She listens very well so she would THRIVE if enrolled in training.  Joy would do well in a home with a more submissive dog and we are unsure about cats, but we can test her.  If you would like to make Joy a part of your family please go to www.barktownrescue.org and fill out an adoption application. Joy's Adoption Fee: $170The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    May 10, 2024, 10:59 am

Story
Meet Maddie, she's a petite little Pittie. 3 years old. She loves affection. Was around 4 children 2 and up. No cats she chases them.Does better with male dogs. She is heartworm negative .Maddie would do amazing in any family. The owners have had a series of downfalls recently and they surrendered her to us so we can find her a new forever home. She is excellent on leash, absolutely loves car rides.Right now she is unfortunately kenneled outside as we have cats and 3 female dogs. She isn't kenneled all day as we walk her, take her to stores with us.We want her to be inside where she can be curled up with her family on a cozy couch. She has no food aggression at all,not into playing, not much of a barker. She truly just wants love, all the love you can give! Maddie will reside with us until she finds her forever loving home!

Story
Brody is a distinguished gentleman who would make the PERFECT family dog! He is estimated to be around 6- 7 years old. His DNA results show he is a Boxer/Hound/Lab mix. Brody is UTD on his yearly vaccinations, heart worm free, neutered, and microchipped. He is so grateful to be in a home with comfort and love, and is looking for the right family to welcome him. His personality is laid back with occasional playfulness, and sometimes he likes to “talk;” but mostly Brody loves to be held. His favorite activities are cuddling on the couch, going on walks, and riding in the car. He LOVES to go on car rides!! ?? Brody crates well when his foster mom is gone for long periods of time, sleeps on a dog bed in the living room, and has learned to play nicely with toys. Brody has been to both Lowe’s and TSC and was a perfect gentleman every time!! Brody does well with children, adults, and both male and female dogs. He isn’t a fan of cats, so he’s looking for a “cat free” family. He's just a gem of a fella and he deserves a loving family to call his own. If you are looking for a loving, laid back boy, Brody is your man. You may apply on our website: www.tgspca.org
