Story
Ariel is a graduate of our dog training program at Northeastern New Mexico Correctional Facility. Her handler writes: "Ariel is a 1-year-old pit/terrier mix. She is black and white and of medium build. Ariel is a favorite around here at the prison. She has a very friendly presence about her. She loves attention from anyone who will give her a few minutes of their time. That means hugs and kisses from both parties!! "Ariel is a very high-energy dog that loves to run and play with any type of toy he can get a hold of. She has no problems playing alone. Her social skills with other dogs are a work in progress, though. She is still young and really doesn't know her place in the pack yet, so she tends to like to get too close to other dogs' space. In those times, I take the time to instill in her that isn't proper behavior by utilizing a tug toy so both dogs can enjoy the fun with each other. If that doesn't work, a little time out usually helps. "Ariel loves to eat! Once you spend a little time with Ariel, she will leave an everlasting impression with you. Not only is she cute, she will brighten your day. She walks great on a leash and knows all of her commands. All she needs now is a forever home that she knows is gonna be hers forever. She needs lots of love in her life and will do the same for you."

Story
Apollo is a graduate of our dog training program at Northeastern New Mexico Correctional Facility. His handler writes: "Apollo likes waking up to being scratched all over - especially his sides and haunches. He enjoys ear rubs all the time. He is very strong and energetic! He is a very cautious creature, meaning aware of his surroundings. He likes to see how everything smells. He does not like loud, sudden noises or to be run up on by people. He loves playing fetch and tug and enjoys chewing things like his rope, ball, and bones. His favorite snack is Cheetos. He gets along with other dogs well. He shies away from aggressiveness. He loves hugs and closeness but doesn't like being helled at. He is stubborn but very, very smart. He listens well but will test his limits. "All around, he is a wonderful, loving animal who is eager to please. He does not like the uniform of the officer or dog catcher. He loves baths.

Story
MEET BLADE! Blade is a graduate of our dog training program at Northeastern New Mexico Correctional Facility. His handler writes: "My name is Blade. I am a large, black male dog. I am about a year old. I am very friendly and like meeting people as well as other dogs. Some of my favorite things to do are to play, chase, and chew on rubber balls. I especially like balls that squeak and are brightly colored. I also like to play fetch with the ball, and I also like to play with and chew on ropes, both fetching them, but also playing tug o' war. "I like to run with both my trainer, as well as with the other dogs I live with. I love having my belly scratched, and I also like being scratched behind my ears. I don't especially like taking baths, but I like being and smelling clean, so l don't make a fuss over them. I just tolerate them. "I like to lay around, both in my kennel and on the floor, and chew on my bone, but I don't chew on things that aren't mine. I don't take or steal food or anything that isn't mine. I don't beg for food, and I don't get on the furniture. I only use the bathroom where l'm supposed to. I get along and play well with other dogs. I also get along and sit when I meet new humans. "I do my best to walk loosely on my leash, and I know and understand all the basic commands, both in hand signals and verbally, for sit, down, stay, come, up, and stand for exam. I don't mind having my teeth, ears, or paws looked at and examined. I also know my name. I can also shake hands with either paw. "I would love to go to a home that has a big yard so that I could run and chase a ball or rope, with lots of children who would play with me. I also wouldn't mind another dog living with us to be my companion. I would also be happy running or jogging with my owner. I would be a great companion with just one person but would be ecstatic to have a large family."

Story
Max is a graduate of our dog training program at Northeastern New Mexico Correctional Facility. His handler writes: Hello, I'm Max, and I would like to tell you a little about myself, and hopefully you'll take me home with you. I know I'm part boxer but unsure of what else I am. I will admit I am shy in the beginning, but once I get to know you, I am the goofiest, most playful, loving, and loyal dog you'll ever meet, especially if you give me treats. I'll do all kinds of tricks for meats or sweets, and the tricks I know are sit, lie down, stay, left shake, right shake, high fives, knucks, bow, play dead or "bang," sit pretty (but I need a little assistance with that, as my balance is off), left spin, and right spin. I absolutely love getting the top of my head scratched, along with my neck and butt. I am housetrained, so you don't have to worry about me going to the bathroom in the house. I would be great for a family, as I do not bark or bite or jump on people, and I play well with other dogs, too. I do not like loud noises, and I'm not too fond of fast-moving objects, either, and that's pretty much it for dislikes. The last thing I think you should know is I'll cuddle with you all day if you let me, and who could say no to this face? I know I couldn't if I were you. Please take me to my new home. Maximus Goofapodimus out. :)
