Poor sweet Buddy Boy was found as a stray, wandering the streets of North Florida when a neighbor found him and called us. Estimated to be about four years old, he may not be able to tell us his story but its clear that he hasn't had it easy. He appeared to have an injured leg, which turned out to be a problem with a ligament which we have had surgically repaired. But none of this hardship has affected that smile! His foster mom says he is the very best dog. We would love for you to meet him and see if you have room to give this boy a great home. He will give you nothing but love in return! And let's break Black Dog Syndrome together! If you've never heard of that, it s a phenomenon in pet adoption in which black dogs are ignored in favor of light-colored ones. Observed by shelters and rescue groups across the world, BDS is an issue negatively affecting the adoption rates of black pets. The reason behind the phenomenon is unclear, it may have to do with depictions in movies and tv where black dogs are mean, or it could just be that black dogs don't photograph as well as lighter colored ones. But none of that affects Buddy Boy's sweet personality, just meet him and see!

There's nothing I love more than snuggling up next to my favorite humans and soaking in all the love and attention I can get. I'm not shy about expressing my affection and will often try to wiggle my way into your lap for some well-deserved pets. Confidence is my middle name! I approach every situation with a cool and collected demeanor. Whether it's meeting new people, exploring unfamiliar places, or encountering new experiences, I'm always up for the challenge. My curiosity and zest for life drive me to explore and sniff around, uncovering all the interesting scents the world has to offer. Now, I do have one little quirk that we're working on: leash manners. Sometimes my excitement gets the best of me, and I tend to pull a bit. But don't worry, I'm eager to learn and with some patient guidance, I'm sure I'll improve my walking skills in no time. When it comes to energy, I fall into the medium range. I enjoy a good play session or a brisk walk, but I'm also content relaxing and taking it easy. A balanced lifestyle is what I strive for. Bunsen is the sweetest 1-year-old little man who loves cuddles, going to the dog park, and treats. He is up to date on vaccines, house-trained, and neutered. He is suspected to be an american staffordshire terrier mix and has no current health issues. He's genuinely a good boy, easy to train, and just needs to find his furever home. Bunsen gets along very well with dogs of any size, wants to snuggle any time of day, and be around his people. He loves his tough chew toys, playing tug of war (fetch is still in question), and walks very well on a leash. He will sometimes pull towards other dogs and people but has been responsive when training not to. He's pretty smart, can pick up new commands easily, and is overall just a lovely, active dog. I hope he finds a home filled with love and attention so that he can thrive as the best boy. Currently located in Tallahassee but willing to travel if it's meant to be!
