Story
Allow me to reintroduce myself! My name is Shelby, SHEL to the BY! ?? Hi there, I’m Shelby—the tennis ball queen, certified cuddlebug, and your future best friend! I’m packed with personality, full of kisses, and always ready for some fun. My favorite game in the entire world is fetch, and I’ll bounce after my tennis ball again and again until I’m ready to plop down beside you for a well deserved nap. Don’t worry, it doesn’t take me long to wear myself out!I’ve got a goofy, joyful spirit and a whole lot of love to give. I greet everyone with happy wiggles and have never met a person I didn’t want to smother with kisses. I do have a little secret though... sometimes I get mouthy when I want attention. I’m not trying to be naughty, I just get excited and don’t always know the best way to say “please notice me!” With a little patience and guidance, I’ll learn better ways to ask for love without being a rascal.Once I’ve had my playtime and zoomies, I settle right down and am more than happy to curl up for snuggles. I really do have a sweet and cuddly side. I just need a home that understands I’m still figuring things out.And yes, I do have the best name in the world just ask our Director who also happens to be named Shelby. For the record, I came to HSEC already named. No one is naming dogs after themselves… probably. But hey, with a name this awesome, why would anyone want to change it? If you`re looking for a fun loving affectionate pup who brings both the party and the snuggles, I’m your girl. Come meet me and let me fetch my way right into your heart!XOXOShelby

Story
Waylon is a wonderful sweet boy who we took in as a foster the day after Halloween. He is grossly underweight, currently about 45#, but still the happiest of boys. He is crate trained, house broken, and knows his basic commands. He does not jump on people, sits when he has your attention, and loves squeaky toys- without destuffing (so far). He startles easily and runs away sometimes but has shown zero aggression towards people, kids, or dogs. We have introduced him to children as young as 4, as old as 13 as well as other dogs in multiple settings. We have 4 other dogs in our home and his favorite is the fluffiest husky. We will be spending the next few weeks searching for his furever home, getting him fattened up, shots current and neutered. We are willing to travel to get him to the best home because he deserves all the love and cuddles.

Story
I was brought in to Colonial Capital Humane Society as an owner surrender. My family did not have time for me so they kept me outside. The shelter life is stressful so it’s hard let my true personality shine. I am considered dog selective because it takes me a minute warm up to other dogs. I prefer a slow introduction but I wouldn't mind being a single-dog companion either! I am kid friendly. Please visit our website, www.colonialcapitalhs.org to fill out an application today!

Meet Charlene – A Gentle Soul Looking for Her Forever Home 💜 Charlene is a stunning 9-year-old pittie with a heart as big as her beautiful smile. Originally adopted from our rescue four years ago, she was recently returned through no fault of her own—her family faced an unexpected move and sadly couldn’t take her along. Now back with us, Charlene is hoping to find a loving home to spend her golden years. She's a calm, affectionate companion who truly deserves stability and care. While Charlene prefers to be the only pet in the home, her sweet personality more than makes up for it—she’s loyal, gentle, and full of love. Due to her age, Charlene is currently on joint supplements, and we recommend continuing them to help keep her comfortable and mobile. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will love you unconditionally, Charlene might just be the perfect match.

Story
Meet 5 YO 42 lb Brodie! Brodie was adopted out of Lancaster Animal Shelter in 2019 and recently came back there with some small treatable medical issues which have been taken care of. Brodie is a little nervous but easily won over. Brodie wasn't interested in toys in the kennel but wanted to meet all of his neighbors. "He is a very sweet boy, but not used to being given attention. Brodie is now with one of our fosters and is doing well. In notes about him the word we see consistently is FRIENDLY. Please help Brodie find his furever home!

Story
Capone has been to the vet and he is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on prevention. Capone was never socialized with the world around him or any other dogs but Dolly. He didn't show aggression when he met a stranger dog, just fear. He cannot live with small animals. Capone met Sprinkles yesterday!!! We have taken decompression very slowly with Capone because he had so much loss and change so quickly. Yesterday Capone got to meet one of the resident hound girls and they did perfect! This amazing boy deserves a family of his own, even a foster home (he is in a temporary foster home)! Capone is a chill dog whose favorite thing is human lovin, peanut butter kongs & the hot pink Kong wooba! If interested in meeting this awesome boy please apply at chasintailrescuenc.com
