Story
Meet this handsome fella named Abel! He was adopted as a little puppy and now back as of April 17, 2023 when his owners were moving and couldn’t take him along with them. They also had 2 other dogs and Abel and one of the dogs were no longer getting along. Sad situation for Abel and his family who loved him very much. He is 5 years old, fully vetted, house broken, and lived in a home with children. Loved riding in the car and could be found trying to sit in the car seat of the youngest child. Just a sweet, handsome, and happy guy who is a little down on his luck being back at the shelter. He is keeping his paws crossed that it doesn’t take too long for his FOREVER person or family to find him. He can be selective with other dogs but has had other canines that he’s been good friends with in the past. Though he would really love to be the only pet where he can soak up all the loving and TLC! Stop by for a visit with Abel today and give him back the loving home he is missing so much! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.

Story
My name is Bella, my beloved human pasted away on Mar 1 and I’m in need of a new loving home. Although the breed listed might not be the right breed as the human society listed me as mixed. I love people but not other animals as my human spoiled me. I love to play, run, swim, and most importantly cuddle. I am a quick learner too. Please open your heart and take a chance on me, I will love you forever.

Story
Pebbles is a female staffordshire terrier mix and estimated at 3 1/2 years old. This petite gal is under 20lbs and full grown. From her foster family: ""She is really the perfect doggo. She gets along great with all her foster siblings. She plays well with our younger dog, but settles down and snuggles right in with our older dog. She listens to our more dominant female as well. She loves to play with our kitten and is learning our older cats' boundaries. She is crate trained, and walks well on a leash. She does great in a car. Anyone would be lucky to have her.""*This pet is located at our Kentucky Branch*Adoption Application can be found at www.adoptionfirstanimalrescue.com

Story
Meet this handsome senior fella named Vegas! He was surrendered over to the shelter by his owner on January 6, 2023 because he was getting nippy. He is 10 years old, current on shots, already neutered, and deserving of a wonderful life to enjoy his “golden years” being a loved and pampered pup in a home. Don’t let his age deceive you…he has a lot of pep in his strep. When he gets excited he gets the zoomies (just like a puppy) and that is when he can get nippy. Just being playful. While on the leash for a walk he walks perfectly. Owner said he needs a home without other dogs and no cats. Since he can get a little over excited and can be a little nippy (in a playful way) would be best in a home without children. He’s handsome and sweet and with the right person he will thrive and make someone a sweet pup! Visit with Vegas today and adopt him into your heart and home! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting.
