Story
Skye is not only beautiful, but he is a great dog. He completed a training program and was in a foster home for a short time. Skye is a very smart dog and is looking for an active family to adopt, and a fenced in yard would be necessary. Skye would not be a good fit for a first time dog owner. Don't miss out on this great dog. By the way, Skye loves taking baths, with or without you in the tub!!!!

Story
3/8/24 Update Big News - Tucker completed his board and train program with Cold Water K9 in Castalia. He did great and will need an owner that is willing to continue his training and commands he has leaned. Big thanks to Cold Water K9 for helping Tucker be the best dog he can be! **This is a great opportunity to adopt a professionally trained dog!! He has wonderful house manners and is housebroken, and crate trained. If you are interested in Tucker, please complete our online Love-A-Stray application. We can only consider homes with a completed application, so we can learn a little about you to make sure Tucker is a good match. Thank you! Application: www.loveastraydog.com/application **If you are interested in offering a temporary foster home for Tucker, as we search for his forever home, Love-A-Stray provides everything needed for the foster program. You have zero expenses. PLEASE consider helping this GREAT dog while we work on finding Tucker a forever home!! Tucker completed a 6 week board and train program and he knows all his commands. Tucker is ready for his next adventure! If his new potential family or foster has a dog, Tucker would do best with a calm dog that is not reactive and can be a positive influence on him. Tucker is a typical playful young dog, he is 60lbs and 11 months old, DOB 4/20/23. We are hopeful to find an adopter that will help Tucker by continuing his training. Tucker is super sweet and very smart. He will need daily exercise, typical of a young dog. Tucker has lived with a cat and he is curious about the cat, but since his board and train he does very well just leaving the cat alone ;-). We prefer a home with older children, since he is a larger dog and could easily knock down a toddler. We would love for Tucker to have a fenced in yard (not electric) so he can burn off some young dog energy and he really loves to play fetch, but it is not required as long as new owner is very active and can offer daily walks in all types of Ohio weather;-)! Tucker rides well in the car too. Tucker is completely vaccinated and neutered. If you are interested in Tucker, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Tucker would be a perfect match for you and your family. We are looking for local adoption within a 65 mile radius of Avon Lake Ohio, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $ 150.00. If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Tucker, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

Story
This beautiful 2 year old brindle beauty is Violet! Violet is a 2 year old pittie and is full grown at 60 lbs. Violet has such a beautiful soul! She's a very shy girl, but once you spend some time with her and get that first tail wag, your heart will just melt. Violet recently went to the vet and did great at her appointment! It was her first time going to the vet ever, because in her past life she was used for breeding and never got medical done. Violet was quiet and stoic getting all of her shots and even her heartworm test done which was negative. Good job, Violet! Violet loves to go for walks with volunteers. She now walks with our other TRI adoptable pittie, Shorty. If you'd like more information on Violet, email us at therescueinn@gmail.com or complete an adoption application: https://therescueinn.com/adoption-application.html

Story
Meet Pete, a charming 4-year-old American Staffordshire mix eagerly seeking his forever home! With just a few weeks left in his 12-week stay-and-train program, Pete is counting down the days until he can embark on his next adventure with his new family. To arrange a meet-and-greet with Pete, please contact Rachael at 440-773-0270. Pete has already mastered basic obedience commands like heel, sit, and down, and he's currently honing his stay duration skills. He also keeps his area very clean which indicates he is housetrained and is great in his crate! Plus, he's a pro at giving his paw for treats - such a clever boy! Pete's favorite pastime? Playing with balls! However, his enthusiasm can lead to many balls being shredded, so he'll need tough, indestructible, larger balls to keep him entertained. We have recently learned that Pete likes doggie friends and wouldn't mind sharing his new forever home with one! He also showed his playful side with a kitty he met. His initial shyness around new people quickly fades, revealing his affectionate and loving nature. Pete's athleticism is impressive - he can jump quite high when he's excited - but he responds well to gentle reminders to calm down. Pete would thrive in a home with owners willing to continue his training journey. If you're ready to welcome this sweet and playful pup into your life, don't hesitate to reach out to Rachael to schedule a meet-and-greet. Pete can't wait to meet his perfect match!

Story
Blanco was pulled from Monroe Humane Society in December 2023. This guy is so sweet and doesn't deserve what life has handed him. Blanco is deaf, and also heartworm positive. Save Monroe Strays has lots of experience with both! He is currently undergoing his heartworm treatment (first injection down, 2 to go). If you have ever wanted to do the most rewarding thing ever, please consider fostering Blanco through the rest of his treatment. While he is in a loving foster home now, there are several other dogs around which, of course, Blanco wants to play with. Part of the struggle with heartworm is that a dog needs to remain fairly calm and not elevate their heart rate. Do you have a quiet house for him to hang out in? As far as Blanco being deaf.....we have had several deaf dogs in our care. We can help with training. Their ability to overcome this one deficit with their other senses being so keen is really something you have to see to believe. Please don't let his deafness dissuade you from meeting Blanco. He's such a good boy!
