Story
Meet Idgie!! She strutted into the shelter as a stray on 11/7/25, and we think she’s about 3 years old—but honestly, she acts like she’s been running her own luxury spa for years. Idgie is stunning, sweet, and affectionate… basically, she’s the dog version of a rom-com lead who steals your heart in the first five minutes. She knows how to sit (fancy, right?) and loves treats so much she might just audition for a cooking show if snacks were involved. She’s basically a little bundle of charm wrapped in fur, with a side of sass and a dash of “please pet me immediately.” Idgie will be the ultimate companion for some very lucky family or individual—warning: she may also inspire spontaneous photo shoots, random giggles, and an unreasonable number of treat-based negotiations. She is available for adoption—so hurry in to meet this little superstar before she steals someone else’s heart (and snacks). Idgie is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH Phone: 419-774-5892 It is an application process. You can request one via dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov .

Story
🥩 House Special – Your New Favorite Comfort Food 🥩 Meet Smokehouse!! This handsome guy came in as a stray on 6/17/25, after roaming free for over two months. We think he’s about 3 years old and full of good ol’ fashioned charm. When you first take him out of his kennel, he might get a little excited—after all, he’s been used to calling the shots for a while. But once he settles, you’ll see his sweet and thoughtful side. Smokehouse is a gentle soul with an independent streak, and with a little patience and routine, he’ll make a loyal and loving companion. He’s kind of like your favorite steakhouse meal: hearty, dependable, and always hits the spot. Give him a little structure, and you’ll have yourself a best friend who’s always ready for a walk or a snuggle. 🐾 Friendly 🐾 Handsome 🐾 A little independent, a lot lovable 📍 Smokehouse is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH 📞 Call 419-774-5892 for more info 📧 Request an application via dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov Pull up a chair and meet Smokehouse — he’s comfort food for the soul. ❤️🍽️

Story
This sweet, precious sunflower is Honey— a silly, 5-yr-old cuddlebug with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She was rescued two years ago, but due to financial hardship and changing living circumstances, her previous owner couldn’t keep her. I’ve stepped in to care for her these past few months, but I sadly can’t provide a permanent home as my elderly blind dog doesn’t tolerate other animals. Honey LOVES people—she’s gentle, social, affectionate, and a champion sunbather. She loves her mid-morning naps, enjoys playful bursts of energy, and likes to “yap” when she wants food, attention, or a trip outside. At ~80 lbs she may look tough but she’s really just a big marshmallow. She would thrive in a home with no other dogs, plenty of affection, and ideally a yard for zoomies and sun-soaking. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and has no health issues. If you’re looking for a loyal, sassy, snuggly best friend—Honey is your lover-girl. She’ll love you forever if you let her.

Story
Skye is not only beautiful, but he is a great dog. He completed a training program and was in a foster home for a short time. Skye is a very smart dog and is looking for an active family to adopt, and a fenced in yard would be necessary. Skye would not be a good fit for a first time dog owner. Don't miss out on this great dog. By the way, Skye loves taking baths, with or without you in the tub!!!!
