Story
Duncan—lovingly known as Dunkie Doodle—has lived through more pain than any dog ever should. When he came to us, he bore deep scars both inside and out. He had been horrifically attacked by another dog and likely abused by the humans who were supposed to protect him. It’s no surprise that he can be fearful of new people and unfamiliar places. But that isn’t the full story of who Duncan is. The Duncan we know is the one doing joyful zoomies in the yard. He’s the one sneaking in surprise kisses when he’s feeling safe. He’s the one gleefully shredding stuffies and leaning in close for cuddles with the people he’s learned to trust. That Duncan is goofy, sweet, and absolutely full of love. He just needs someone willing to give him the time and space to let that version of himself shine. Duncan must be an only pet, and he may need some time to warm up to new people—but he is so worth the wait. He is housebroken, loyal, and incredibly loving once he feels safe. He doesn’t need perfection; he just needs patience. We know there’s someone out there who understands what it means to heal. Someone who knows that scars—both seen and unseen—don’t make you broken. They make you resilient. Duncan is living proof of that. Please, give this beautiful soul a chance to feel what it’s like to be truly safe, accepted, and loved. Let our Dunkie become your Dunkie.

Story
Our sweet Dobby Doodle—also lovingly known as Dobby Dobert—is truly the bestest house elf in all the lands. He’s goofy, affectionate, and full of charm… so we’re not sure why he keeps getting overlooked! Dobby is the kind of dog who will have you smiling every single day. His favorite toy is his beloved Mr. Bill stuffy (we keep backups on hand in case of squeaky emergencies), and his favorite activities include rolling in the grass, soaking up sunshine, giving the best belly-up cuddles, and—of course—“helping” with landscaping. He is also wonderfully differently-abled. Dobby has a pair of wonky legs, but they don’t slow him down one bit. In fact, they give the best hugs you’ve ever had. He can run, play, snuggle, and live life to the fullest just like any other dog. You might even say his little legs just make him more lovable. Dobby does need to be the only pet in the home, but trust us—he’s all the love, joy, and personality you’ll ever need. He’s sweet, silly, snuggly, and truly one of a kind. We believe all dogs are special, but some have just that extra something—and Dobby is definitely one of those rare gems. He’s been waiting patiently for his person… and we know they’re out there.

🎯 NOW AVAILABLE: One (1) Slightly Baffled Blind Dog. Name: Hudson. Occupation: Confused but enthusiastic. Vision: Absolutely not. Vibes: Immaculate. This marshmallow of a dog has no idea what’s going on, but he’s THRILLED to be here. He’s been blind his whole life, so he doesn’t miss seeing. What he lacks in vision, he makes up for in: 🔊 Echolocation (aka bonking into things) 👃 Sniff science 🧲 Magnetic pull toward affection Hudson spent months at a shelter, on the edge of being euthanized simply because nobody saw him. (The irony, we know.) But now he’s free, fabulous, and ready to find a forever couch to accidentally walk into. ✅ Good with most dogs (with a proper “who’s who” intro) ✅ Cat-tested, mostly uninterested ✅ Housebroken, crate trained, fully vetted ✅ Probably part marshmallow ✅ Will follow your voice like a tiny stalker with paws Hudson doesn’t need your pity—he needs your snacks. And your love. And possibly a baby gate so he doesn’t end up in the laundry basket again. 💌 Apply to adopt: Helpingheartshealingtails.org 📍Adopters must be within a 2 hour radius of Stahlstown, PA Adopt Hudson. He may not see you coming, but he’ll love you like he’s known you forever. ***Blind dogs require a fenced yard***

Story
Giblet isn’t just a dog—he’s a full-blown character arc. A little sass, a little attitude, and a whole lot of personality packed into one soulful pittie body. He’ll make you laugh, cry, and occasionally question if he’s been possessed by the spirit of a Victorian orphan. (We haven’t ruled it out.) Giblet is around two years old and came to us from local animal control. At first, he was a bit of a mystery—but once he settled in, we discovered a dog full of love, quirks, and yes, a sprinkle of chaos. He adores people, loves to play ball, and is obsessed with his stuffies. He’s dog-selective—he gets along with female dogs, but not males—and he hasn’t been cat-tested yet. Recently, Giblet gave us quite a scare when he became ill and needed emergency surgery to remove a piece of rubber from his small intestine. He’s recovering well now, and the whole ordeal showed us just how tough (and sweet) this boy really is. Throughout his entire hospital stay, Giblet won over the staff with his charm and resilience. Like many dogs with anxiety, Giblet tends to chew and swallow things he shouldn’t when he’s stressed or bored. To support his well-being, we’ll be starting him on anxiety medication as he continues to heal and prepare for a forever home that understands his needs. Giblet isn’t for the faint of heart—but if you like your dogs with a side of spicy and a heap of heart, this little goblin of a gremlin might just be your soulmate. He’s vaccinated, scheduled to be neutered, and ready to start the next chapter of his story—with you.

Story
Mokey is a very happy and active dog. He loves people and toys more than anything else in life. He is high energy and can be very focused on playing or running, basically being busy. He gets along with most dogs, but a lot of that tends to depend on the other dogs. Mokey can be pretty intense because of the amount of crazy energy he has and his lack of manners for personal space. He is a very loving dog and would make an amazing addition to a family but he would definitely from some obedience training. He is crate trained and fully vetted. All he needs is a family willing to give him a chance.

Story
Meet Blossom – Your Outdoorsy, Goofy Girl Blossom is a 4-year-old unaltered female who came to us as a stray from Somerset County. Since arriving, she’s been showing her sweet, silly personality more and more each day—and she’s ready to find a forever home to keep blooming in! This charming girl loves being outside. Just say the word, and she’ll give you the cutest little head tilt, ready for her next outdoor adventure. Whether she’s running, playing, skipping around, or just soaking up the sunshine, Blossom is in her element when she’s out and about. Blossom definitely has that classic Boxer personality—goofy, energetic, and full of love. She’s sure to keep you smiling with her playful antics and sweet nature. While she can be a bit timid around new people at first, a few meet-and-greets will help her feel more comfortable and confident. She seems to do well with other dogs, but we do require meet-and-greets with any potential dog siblings to ensure a good fit. If you're looking for a fun-loving, outdoorsy pup with a heart of gold, Blossom might just be the perfect addition to your family!
