Story
Meet Proud Mary, a mature female bully mix. We suspect Mary is staffordshire terrier / bull terrier mix because of her large rabbit ears. After months in a Georgia shelter, Proud Mary was just two days from euthanasia when our rescue agreed to take her, and this silly loving girl has been lounging in comfort ever since. Mary is a lap dog at heart and lives for an invite up onto the couch and a belly rub. Mary does not bark excessively inside the home though she will ‘talk’ to you when she wants attention. She loves morning walks, snacks and rolling in the grass. Mary would do best in a fenced yard or with an owner committed to daily walks though at 9 years old now, they don’t need to be very long. Mary is ‘barrier’ reactive (barking) and would not enjoy dog park visits. While Mary loves kids, we do not recommend her for a household with small children as she may easily knock them over. The BasicsAge: 9 yrsWeight: 55 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesMicrochipped: YesVaccines Up-to-Date: YesOn Heartworm Prevention: YesHouse-Trained: Yes (perfect)Crate-Trained: YesLeash Skills: Needs work when excitedMedical: Clean bill of health from vet. Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! My name is Yukon and I’m in desperate need of a loving home! I’m about three to five years old with a heart full of energy and love, just waiting to find the perfect family. I absolutely adore kids—running, playing, and getting all the belly rubs are my favorite things in the world! If you’ve got a yard or love going for long walks, I’ll be right there beside you, ready to run, jump, and enjoy every moment. I’m an active girl who would thrive in a home where playtime and fun are part of everyday life. There’s one small thing you should know: I’m not the best around chickens. For some reason, they just get me all worked up, so a chicken-free home would be the best place for me. My situation has become urgent. The shelter in our area had to close down after the director was fired, leaving us and many other animals in a state of emergency. Thankfully, a kind lady is letting the community use her property as a temporary refuge, but I can’t stay here forever. I need a safe, permanent home where I can continue to thrive and love my humans. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and loving dog (or two), I’m your girl. I promise to fill your days with joy, laughter, and so much love. Please, if you can help me in this time of need, reach out. I’m ready to find my forever family and start the next chapter of my life. With love and paws,Yukon *Guest Posting   If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, tell us and we will email it to you. Adoption fee $150ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. January 10, 2025, 11:26 pm

Hi y'all! My name is Hope and I am such a good girl! Please don't let my eye scare you! It is corneal scarring from an old injury I had before I found myself at HSTV. It is not causing me any pain so there is no need for removal as of now! I have never met a stranger and love every person I meet. I can be a bit vocal when playing with my dog friends, but the ones who can match my play style are my favorite! If you are interested in me and currently have a dog, please set up a meet and greet to ensure we'll all be best friends! Come meet me today! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 50.6 Age: 5yrs 0mths 4wks

Story
Wilma is being fostered in NJ. Wilma is a wonderful companion and a very sweet lady. She will gently take a piece of kibble or a treat from your hand. She loves treats and biscuits! Wilma also likes back rubs and sitting nearby her person. Walking is another favorite activity, and she will tilt her head to listen to the sounds in the neighborhood. She is a gentle walker, doesn't pull, but will stop to listen. She will respond with a deep bark to other barking dogs. She is not afraid of dogs and does not respond aggressively, but if a dog continues to bark at her, she will also keep barking. Wilma gets along with the cat in her foster home as well as the rabbit. She will sit at the door to indicate she needs to go outside, and will go to her bed to nap or sleep for the night after she has visited outside. She's just a sweetheart who wants to be with her person! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

BRING COOKIES. WE CAN BE FRIENDS! Hi, I'm Dot, Dottie, Doodles--they call me lots of goofy names because I'm a  goofball! I've been playing with the wonderful ladies at Winding Lane Kennels and, although I love them to  pieces, I'd really like to have my own family. They say that I have "stranger danger" issues, but I just require that new people bring me cookies! Think of it as a friendship offering and I'll be your new best friend. :) I've been working with my lovely trainer and she says I'm a quick learner. I DO love to please people. I like to cuddle, but at 60 lb. I may be too big for your lap. I get the zoomies ALL the time! Everyone cracks up and secretly takes videos. I love hunting lizards and bugs and will run off those weird-looking tree dogs with the fuzzy tails. So I would be happiest with a fenced yard in which to do my zoomies! She loves the company of other dogs but sadly, cannot be left alone with them because things from her unfortunate past trigger a fight or flight response towards other dogs. She would be very happy to be your one and only furry love. She is absolutely amazing with all people and has great manners, keeping “4 paws on the floor” and sitting patiently for snacks! Because of her mature demeanor, we think Kallie would do best in a home that is mildly active. She loves to roll around and lay out on the couch but also enjoys walks with her favorite people! *Guest Posting**Due to Kallie's 'fight or flight' response towards other dogs, small children are not advised   If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Maliboo is a medium/large (50 lbs), five year old, Boxer/Staffordshire mix. Maliboo has been placed and returned and abandoned by many different people in his lifetime and has suffered deeply because of it. He is now finally back on his feet and feeling better with his fosters and ready to finally be placed with his perfect people. He has a very hard time trusting other dogs and should be the only pet in the house because of the unfortunate situations he has been put in. Being left alone with other dogs that are not dog-friendly has traumatized him. He has a very low prey drive and while he loves to zoom around when he gets excited, he will not be chasing anyone’s cat! Maliboo would do best in a home with older children. He has picked up some peculiar behaviors in all the interesting situations he’s been in, including being very vocal when he feels a little zoomey! He grunts and howls and talks and gallops all over the place! Seeing him express himself in silly ways has been such a relief for his fosters after seeing him depressed for so long. We would love to see him loved and happy in his new home. *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830.
