EXTENDED!CENSUS DEADLINE5PM MONDAY 13THAVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OR FOSTERName: TovaAnimal ID: A879877Age: 3 yearsWeight: 68.80Web Link: https://24petconnect.com/PimaAdoptablePets/Details/PIMA/A879877About: Tova is a shy, gentle dog who’s learning to trust the world again. She takes a little time to warm up, but once she feels safe, her sweet and curious side starts to shine through. She’s made a lot of progress here—walking more confidently, taking treats from our hands, and relaxing more in the yard with her buddy, Raisa. She likes to stay close and will check in for gentle pets when she’s comfortable.Tova will do best in a calm home with people who understand that she needs time and patience. She isn’t ready for too much handling right away, but with a slow approach and plenty of treats, she’ll continue to come out of her shell.Because she can be nervous and startle easily, she’ll need a secure yard and should be supervised outside. She would also do best in a home without small children, as quick movements or loud noises can make her uncomfortable. With other dogs, she prefers slow, controlled introductions.Tova’s come a long way and has shown she’s ready to keep growing with the right person by her side, but a recent bite in the shelter has placed in her the position of need immediate placement, where she can continue to thrive out of the shelter environment. She just needs someone who’s willing to go slow, give her space when she needs it, and let her build trust on her own timeline. Once she does, you’ll see just how special she really is!Available for foster care (30+ day minimum) or adoption through PACC.Interested parties: Must visit PACC before the 3:00PM SUNDAY OCTOBER 12th at 3PM deadline to meet with a counselor who will review notes and introduce you to the dog to ensure that it’s a good fit. Some dogs may also require an introduction to any dogs they may potentially live with.Home Management PlanBite History • Level 3 moderate to victims face. `Dog was nervous while walking. Bent down to take collar to apply clip leash, she became fractious. Knelt closer to try to calm her down and she jumped up and bit face. Story
Please meet Melman fka Koko! A8407642.5 year old neutered male, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. This sweet gentle giant is looking for his next foster or foster to adopt home. Named after the goofy, lengthy, wobbly giraffe, Melman is a big boy who is recovering from two hip surgeries. While he is a little wobbly, he gets around just fine on his own and needs a place to continue rehabilitation, gain weight, and strength. Melman takes pain medications and joint supplements nicely and is very food motivated! Melman is a very big Velcro dog who wants to be his humans’s very best friend, a good snuggle and pets on the couch is his idea of the best day ever. Melman has done well in the foster home with both dogs and cats. He does not mind cats at all and would be a very good addition to a home with feline friends! Melman can live with other dogs, but would strive in a home with calm, submissive dogs or where he can have at least one human who can give him the spotlight and all the love. Melman walks well on a leash, has been friendly with all humans, has previously done well with children but we would recommend older children who can respect his recovery. He is house trained. He still needs some work on crate training. Melman has weekly physical therapy and occasional vet visits that at this time are still covered by PACC, along with his current medications. Melman does not do well in the shelter so we would love to get him into his next home by Christmas to avoid going back. Please reach out to PACC.MedicalFoster@pima.gov for more information or to schedule a meet and greet.

Story
Fans of the television show Parks and Recreation know that Duke Silver is character Ron Swanson’s alias when playing the saxophone, headlining “The Duke Silver Trio” once a month at a local bar. The ladies swoon over his moustache and smooth jazz riffs. We’d love to introduce you to one cool pup who`s got the ladies and gents drooling over him! While he can’t play the sax, he’ll play with his kennelmate all day long! Volunteers love his adorable face and fun personality- here’s what one friend said:“Duke is a very friendly and bouncy boy! Always happy to see a volunteer friend and eager to get out of his kennel, he`s easy to leash and loves to run around the play yard with his kennel mate. He always checks in for a little bit of affection and seems like he would make a great hiking or jogging buddy, or just a snuggle buddy for quiet days at home. Very sweet boy!”Duke shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Duke is a people oriented, friendly, food motivated (great for training!) boy who knows sit and paw and absolutely loves to get attention and pets! While he may not be a crooner or a saxaphooner, Duke is ready to steal your heart with his many, many other charms and wonderful qualities! If you`re looking for a snuggly, playful young sweetheart. Duke would love to meet you!
