Story
This is Mia. I rescued her from euthanasia.   Today is her birthday, she is 1.  I don't know what breed she is, however, she is a great dog with the potential to be so much more.  She is spayed and up to date on shots. She weights 58 lbs. She is crate trained.  She is awesome with kids.  There are small children around a lot.  She plays on the trampoline with them.  Mia is enrolled at Tip Top dog training beginning in November for obedience training.  She is very high energy but very loving.  Mia is available for adoption from 405 Animal Rescue. obedience training.  She is very high energy but very loving.  Mia is available for adoption from 405 Animal Rescue. ##1508064##

ADOPT JAN This girl is the ultimate sour patch kid. That perfect mix of sweet and sour. She has a little feisty puppy side but boy is she sweet!!  She melts me with those puppy eyes and her little sit. She is the sweetest of the girls and just wants love. She is the most independent of the bunch and most of the time you can find her exploring the yard or romping around playing. She naps hard, goes in her crate at bedtime and doesn’t make a peep, potties outside, loves kids, and melts in your arms. She willl be a stunning girl with her shiny coat. Don’t discount a black dog!  She is 1 in a million.♥   ##2018656##

He found his way into a TX shelter as a stray dog and when no owner came forward to claim him, he was transferred to GPMR for rehab. This boy was absolutely emaciated when he arrived at the shelter. He was only 88 lbs when he arrived and he's already up to about 125! When Gus came to us, he had caught an URI but that's cleared up. He is good with the other dogs in his foster home. We know he'll grab a chicken if given the chance but did drop when told to :) However with that, it would probably be best for him to live in a home without cats.Due to Gus poor health when he came into Rescue, it will be a while before he's ready for adoption. He did test positive for heartworms and we've started him on treatment. He's also showing some signs of allergies that we are working on getting treated and determining if it seems to be a food allergy vs an environmental allergy. Check back for more updates! This sweet boy found himself in a shelter near Houston TX. When no owner was located or came forward, he was transferred to GPMR. Luke is living the best life in his new foster home! His foster mom says sometimes he is so cute that it makes her eyes water. But his salty face and droopy jowls really do work in his favor. He might look old, but  he's estimated at 4-5 yrs old. He appears to have lived a hard life previously and his body shows it. So, please know that he's in his absolute prime despite the greys! He doesn't dig or destroy anything. He is fed separately but that’s because our homes takes the safest measures when they are not the only furry one around here. When his foster mom has taken food, or my bones just to safely “test” – it didn’t phase him one bit. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Luke is wonderfully housetrained! He enjoys canine companions, but doesn't quite play, although watching others play make him happy. He wiggles his booty and wags his tail just being happy that my furry friends are happy. He really thinks he wants to play, but still needs to gain some pounds and TLC with my body. My foster mom has been doing her best with helping get all the foods and supplements. So maybe in the future, he may be ready to do some zooms. He's getting used to his foster cat sibling, at first he would get excited when he saw her, but now he just lays down after he says hello! Luke know sit and shake like the best boy! He is a quiet boy, but in typical Mastiff fashion, sometimes he likes to alert the family of something he sees or hears, but that’s it.Prepare yourself with the cuteness. Luke always has a stuffy toy in his mouth when someone greets him OR if he is just so happy. He will go grab one – sometimes even two! – to parade around with because he is just SO happy to be loved. He even brings them to his vet visits. One little thing to keep in mind, like most of the dogs that are found as a stray down south, he is heartworm positive (HW+). We have already started treatment, but the Vet said he's got some changes in his lungs from the heartworm disease process and it's possible he could have a permanent condition similiar to asthma or COPD in people. We'll have his chest Xrays re-evaluated once he finishes his treatment. Unfortunately Luke was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. He does show some occasional pain in his back end, we have him on supplements and also an Rx anti-inflammatory medication as well. We will get a consult with a specialist once his heartworm treatment is completed to see if there are any treatment options that might help his condition. He will need a home that is single story as going up and down stairs would not be good for his hips. He also needs a home with respectful dogs who won't try to push heavy play or rough house with him.If Luke sounds like a good fella that would fit into your home, please reach out to our rescue, ask any questions, and apply online. He is so deserving of FINALLY having a loving home. Luke is being fostered near Houston, TX.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!May 1, 2024, 9:53 am
