Story
Obedient, rides well in cars, friendly, smart, just an all around excellent boy! Crate/leash/house trained. Loves treats - milk bones, especially pupperonis. He's incredibly good natured and very happy. He'll come to you for attention but no clingy. He loves to run and will play with you if pretend to chase. If he gets over-excited he could try to jump on you. We've worked very hard on him not jumping up. Just be sure he knows to mind. He loves to play with another foster dog. Found her when she was 10 weeks old and right away they were great play pals. She could do anything to him and he could care less. They love to wrestle - even now that she's older and bigger. He LOVES to run and MUST be in a fenced yard. When my donkey is in backyard with him, he'll play with her ignoring pinned ears. Of course, my jenny is very gentle and patient so brushes off him jumping up on her. I say needs to be in fenced yard as he'll run the fence when trucks go by on our road. We live on busy farm to market road so lots of big trucks/school buses. If he was outside a fence, he might get idea to chase them. He will run yard and bark. He'll also sometimes bark at night or early morning to let us know if neighbor cow is out of the fence and on the property behind us. He's quiet in the house and very quiet at night in his crate. He likes to be in his crate btw. He's a great farm dog. Know that he also likes to dig - not that big a deal for me as have a small farm.

Story
Meet Bear: Our Resilient Australian Shepherd Chow Mix! After a month of getting to know Bear better, we have some exciting updates to share. Bear first came to Pet Savers a few years ago and was quickly adopted. Unfortunately, he was returned to us after a couple of years due to reported aggressive tendencies. While Bear never bit anyone, he show signs of aggression(we’ve never seen any aggressive behavior at Pet Savers). After plenty of rest and a thorough check-up by our vet, we discovered that Bear had a sore neck, likely causing his behavior. Now, he's doing much better and gets along well with everyone he meets at Pet Savers. He may bark a lot through the fence, but once he's out, he behaves just fine. Now that Bear is feeling better, we'll start temperament testing him with other dogs to see if he's compatible. We are confident he would thrive in a loving home with people who understand not to pull on his neck or handle him roughly on a leash to avoid re-injury. Bear is now available for adoption and ready to find his forever home. He’s a wonderful Australian Shepherd Chow mix, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and eager to meet you. Come visit us and give Bear a chance! #AdoptBear #ForeverHome #PetSavers #AdoptDontShop #ResilientBear   November 20, 2024, 5:38 pm

Story
We picked up Maple after she was abandoned on a country road north of Big Sandy Tx several months ago. Our intention was to foster her until we can find her a good home, but we can't keep her forever. Although we do not know her exact age, the vet estimated her to be about 2 years old. Maple can be a very high-energy dog and has a number of puppy qualities we are working with her on. She has taken well to her training and hasn't counter surfed in over a month. Maple has been around kids as young as 10 without issue. She gets along with the two smaller dogs in our home; any issues have been minor and have come down to her not taking a hint when trying to play with our grumpy terrier. Maple is playful, sweet, and would make a great addition to anyone's home. She wants to be in whatever room you are in and has good protective instincts. She is very smart and extremely food-motivated.
