Story
Meet Blue He is a 2 year old blue heeler that has been through more than most. After his owner passed away, he was let off his tether and ended up with an injury to his ear, something Mardi Paws graciously stepped in to cover. No family ever came for him or his brother. He spent his entire life chained outside and is now learning what it means to just be a dog. He’s neutered, current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm positive, and will need a committed adopter willing to see him through treatment. Give him the time and structure he’s never had. He’s not a fan of cats and can be selective with male dogs, so he’ll need the right home. Breed experience is strongly preferred. Heelers are smart, driven dogs and he’ll need someone who understands that. He’s not perfect, but he deserves a chance at a real life. The right person is going to get a loyal, one of a kind companion. Please consider opening your heart & home to Blue. Story
Boss is a male blue heeler mix born about 11/16/12. He is up to date on shots and neutered. He and his siblings were dropped in the parking lot of a local pound(guess the person who had them was to chicken to go in and face what he/she was about to do). The shelter was out of room so these sweet babies were going to be put down immediately, we were called and were able to get these guys into a foster home where they now await adoption.

Story
Scout-The Quiet Thinker Scout is the kind of dog who watches first and figures things out before he jumps in. He is incredibly smart and observant. You can see the wheels turning in his head as he takes in his surroundings. He’s more reserved and tends to show his affection in quieter ways. He won’t be the first to barrel over for attention, but once Scout decides you’re his person, you’ll know it. His love is thoughtful and genuine. Scout is a Heeler through and through—smart, loyal, intense, and always paying attention. He notices everything! He is already totally crate trained and happily hops in at dinner and need time. We’re still working on house training but it’s going well! Scout needs someone who understands that trust isn't something you can rush. He needs patience, consistency, and a home where he can settle in and learn that he is safe. He would do best with someone willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. Once he does you’ll have a devoted little shadow. Adopt at Lickingforlove.org/adopt

Maverick – The Doer Maverick acts first and asks questions later. He is confident, curious, outgoing, and always ready for what happens next. He is also a big-time lover. Maverick will come barreling over for attention, check out what you're doing, and make himself part of whatever is happening. But underneath that outgoing Heeler personality is a dog who is still learning that people can be trusted and that life can be predictable. Maverick is smart—really smart! He would thrive with someone who enjoys an active, intelligent dog and is willing to give him boundaries, direction, and plenty of work to do. He’s still working on house training and making great progress. He does not have accidents in his kennel. Maverick doesn't need a perfect home. He needs a forever home. A person who will give him the structure he needs, the affection he craves. If you can handle a Heeler who occasionally makes decisions before consulting management… Maverick may be your guy.

Story
I rescued this beautiful dog from an abusive situation. He was neglected, hit, and not allowed in the house. He is extremely fearful and requires a fenced yard and at least one other dog. I've had him a few days and he is starting to open up to me. He was neutered a few days ago and is still wearing the cone. He just started coming in the house. He hasn't had an accident yet. But I don't think he has a signal on when to go out. He just follows my dog. He has symptoms of anemia and is on iron. He's a mini. His father was a toy. He weighs 23#. He is registered with ADSR. I have all of his paperwork including DNA testing showing he is free from any disease. He must go to someone willing to be extremely patient with him so he can build trust. He will need mental and physical stimulation according to the breed. This is killing me not to keep him, but my lease says only one pet.
