Story
Meet Gus Gus is a 1 year, 8 month old male Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) with a tender heart and a gentle soul. This handsome boy can be timid and unsure when meeting new people or facing new situations, and he needs a patient, understanding home willing to give him the time he needs to feel safe. But once Gus trusts you — oh, what a transformation. He blossoms into a joyful, loving, happy companion who absolutely adores his people. Expect sweet kisses, excited jumps of happiness, and a loyal best friend by your side.Gus seems to do well with other dogs. Because Heelers are a herding breed and may try to “herd” with gentle nipping (it’s instinct, not aggression), he would do best in a home with older children who can understand and respect him.Gus is a multiple-meet dog. Due to his timid nature, potential adopters should plan to visit him multiple times (at least two or more) so he can slowly build comfort and trust. We also ask that you bring your entire household — including any resident dogs — to the meet and greet, and we’ll go from there at Gus’s pace.About the breed: Australian Cattle Dogs (Heelers) are incredibly intelligent, loyal, and devoted to their families. They thrive when they feel secure and connected to their people, and they are known for forming deep, lifelong bonds. With patience, love, and reassurance, Gus will reward his family with unmatched loyalty and companionship.? Sponsored Adoption ?Gus’s adoption is generously sponsored by Kenny’s Corner Store of Marquette, Michigan. Because of their kindness, Gus’s adoption fee is fully covered and includes his neuter, vaccines, microchip, health check, and more.Thank you, Kenny’s Corner, for helping Gus find his forever home If you have a gentle heart and a little patience, Gus just might be your perfect match.
