Story
Meet Nicky, a brave and beautiful girl with a heart of gold and a curious mind. She is an affectionate and playful pup who is always up for an adventure, but also knows how to snuggle up and show her loving side. Nicky is an independent thinker and a quick learner, always eager to explore and figure things out for herself. She will sneak into bed with you. With her friendly and playful nature, she is sure to bring joy and laughter to her new family. Nicky is young and has her whole life ahead of her, so she is looking for a family that can give her the time, attention, and love she deserves. Could you be the one to open your heart and home to this wonderful girl? She should not live with a cat. That is the primary reason she is being rehomed. She needs a confident leader who understands her.

Story
Hello Pacific Northwest!! My name is RADAR and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Kelpie/Shepherd mix (best guess, really!) Age: approx. 1.5 year Gender: Male Weight: 40 lbs  Current Location: TEXAS RESCUE STORY - I was rescued from a euthanasia list at a local high-kill shelter in Texas. Due to no fault of my own, my life had a deadline because the shelter had too many dogs in their care. Thankfully, the amazing humans at County Roads Rescue swooped in and saved me! They can't believe I was due to be euthanized, they say I'm the sweetest boy and will be such an amazing pup for a Pacific Northwest fam! Unfortunately, after being at the shelter for quite a long time now, I was not thriving :( As a working breed boy, I was not getting my needs met throughout the day. As a result, I was often found "circling" inside my kennel (video), likely an anxiety-based behaviour (that will likely dissipate once I'm in a home where my needs are met!) My rescuers know just how amazing of a dog I am, so they worked hard to get me the opportunity to stay with a trainer here in Texas for a while. In this more structured environment, I am not doing my anxious circles anymore and truly have been such a sweet boy to live with! I've gone on car rides and even shared Chick-Fil-A with my trainer (video). My foster mama/trainer says I am incredibly inteligent!!  TEMPERAMENT - I am described as superrrr sweet and incredibly smart. I can be timid upon first introductions but once I know that you are trustworthy, I am eager for all the love and affection you can give me! In typical Kelpie fashion, I am veryyyy smart and will likely thrive having a job to do (whether that be obedience training, agility, or being an official adventure doggo). My rescuers say I'm keen to learn and eager to please; I am treat motivated and really enjoy training... making me a highly trainable pooch! Check out my video of all my tricks-- not to mention my sweet demeanor and happy tailwags (video). I would love an active family who can take me on outdoor adventures, I'm sure I'd be a great adventure buddy!  NOTE: I do have some separation anxiety (understandable after all the time I've spent in the shelter). I do not do well being crated (I will bark), but my rescuers think all of this will improve with time, training, and love. If I get my daily mental and physical exercise, I will be so much happier! I AM LOOKING FOR AN ADOPTER WHO:  is excited to adventure with me and give me all the daily mental and physical stimulation I need in order to thrive! is home more often than not (while I work through my separation anxiety) is willing to be patient while I work through my separation anxiety ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I can be energetic and playful at times (once I'm comfortable), but once my brain and body are sufficiently exercised, I'm a sweet, cuddly boy who enjoys affection and snuggles.  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yup! Video coming soon!    as with ALL dogs, I should always be supervised around children and I need to have my space respected. It's important to remember I am a rescue pup with minimal training, so I may play nip or bounce/jump up on people (including children!) Dogs – Yup! Check out my video. Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Low. I don't know how I'll react to squirrels/rabbits/cats etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, if they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I do pretty well on a slip leash but would love an adopter who is willing to continue working with me on my leash skills.  Crate trained - I live in a kennel when I'm at the shelter. I used to be OK being crated, but after all the time spent at the shelter, I have grown to dislike tight enclosed spaces. I would do better with a play-pen or baby gates in the home instead of being crated. House trained – I am house trained for the most part and know to do my business outside whenever I can. There may be an adjustment period when I go to my new home, but I'm sure with frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement in my new home, I'll catch on quickly! Bonus - My rescuers say I learn tricks at a rapid rate and am very training motivated (endless possibilities of what I can learn!) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.  I have tested negative for heartworm after treatment. I will be tested for distemper and parvo before travelling (although I've been vaccinated for both!) NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00, including applicable taxes ($750.00 CAD + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes my ground transport to Edmonds, Washington. My adopter needs to be willing to drive to Edmonds, Washington to pick me up! :)  ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. Story
Introducing Miss Malika! Malika was taken off the streets by our rescue partners, who'd been notified of her horrible mistreatment at the hands of a homeless person.  Malika needed veterinary care, and most importantly, help to overcome the emotional damage.  Dogs are so resilient and hopeful, Malika has come a long way but has some way to go still.  She is nervous, but in spite of her fears and hesitation, she has never shown any signs of aggression at all! She gets along well with other dogs and children, so a family that could nurture her and show her nothing but love would be the ideal place for Malika.  She will adapt to family life well and will begin to trust again and become the beautiful dog she's destined to be! Her story is a reminder of how important second chances are -- will you be the second chance this girl deserves? VETTING: Fully vaccinated Neutered/Spayed Dewormed SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma) Flea/tick/heartworm prevention No known medical issues or injuries PLEASE NOTE: Malika is currently in Mexico. There will be a $235 fee for transportation to BC. This will be discussed upon approval. ##2302665##
