Meet Tikka — A Loyal, Active Companion with a Working Dog Heart
Tikka is a smart, capable Heeler whose best qualities shine when she has structure, activity, and people to bond with. She is energetic, playful, and happiest when she has space to run and something to do. Whether it’s going for a jog, keeping pace alongside a golf cart during chores, or simply exploring the property, Tikka thrives in an active environment where she can stretch her legs and stay engaged.
She is well trained in many areas of daily life. Tikka walks easily on a leash, loads into the truck when asked, and is crate trained. She knows how to sit and shake with both paws and responds well to clear direction. After exercise, she’s content to relax on a big beanbag or lie quietly at your feet, happy just being near her people.
Tikka lives with older children and does well with them, though she does take a little time to warm up to new people. She was not well socialized early in life, so continued positive exposure and guidance will help her continue building confidence. She gets along very well with other dogs and has lived peacefully with a canine companion for years. While she hasn’t had issues with the household cat, she does watch with interest, so slow introductions or a dog-savvy cat would be ideal.
True to her breed, Tikka is naturally protective and alert. She does have a strong instinct to chase deer if she sees them, but she returns shortly after. Chickens, even when visible, have not been a concern for her.
Tikka would do best in a home familiar with herding breeds, where her intelligence, loyalty, and energy can be appreciated and guided. With continued structure, socialization, and an active routine, Tikka will be a deeply devoted companion who loves being part of her family’s daily life.
