Story
"Courtesy Post" This is not a Street Paws animal, but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  My name is pronounced Bud ah roooo or I go by Bud for short lol I am a little hyper, I love to run and play ball, chase birds in the yard and bark at them from the sky. I can jump really high and know simple manners. I am shy around loud voices but I’m as friendly as can be. My best friend is my son Yogi who needs adopting as well. I love running around with yogi, finding sticks and playing tug-a-war with them. We like to chase each other around the yard; we’re 2 peas in a pod.  Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150-mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $300 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt .     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.  March 7, 2026, 9:46 pm

Story
Tag is a 10 month old Australian Kelpie mix. His owner was hospitalized indefinitely so him and his brother ( in another rescue) was seized by animal control. Tag has an exuberance for life that is unparalleled! He is also a lover and at 20-22 pounds, he makes for a nice lap dog after a hard day of play. He would be an ideal family pet and a great pet for most any sport. He is completely vetted and ready for his forever home. Apply online at brantleyanimalrescuecoalition.com.

Story
2 yr old tricolor M/N Kelpie/GSD mix Looking for a dogs dog?? Gunner is your guy! He was comfortable enough around me, allowed touch, took treats, interacted some with me, but he really really wanted to play with the big dog in the next yard. He wasn't aloof though! Took treats gently, eager to please and loved being called a good boi, it was a fun yard time for both us us He does seem to be feeling the stress from the shelter, some have had some trouble getting him out of his kennel but he was perfectly behaved for me. This is an active breed, he will need consistent physical and mental exercise to be happy, it is likely what is causing his current stress and occasional barrier reactivity. It is worth noting that he was a very loud bork monster when I first approached his kennel but after 3 treats he was ready to follow me anywhere I was going Knows how to sit, walks well on the leash (just a tiny bit of pulling) and seemed potty trained!! ##2528145##

Story
Meet Peanut Peanut is a cute little dog with a BIG personality. Peanut was returned to us due to his high energy and willful ways. He needs to be able to run and play and expend his limitless energy. For one so small, this boy needs to be exercised or else he gets bored. And we all know a bored pup is never well-behaved lol! Peanut also needs a family who give him their attention and make him a part of their activities. Because of his energy, Peanut must go to a home with a confinement fence so he can run and play safely. Peanut looks like an Australian cattle dog or kelpie mix, but it’s hard to know without a DNA test. He is adorable and has a cuddly side, but he’s also 29 lbs. of energy, smarts and will. You can see the intelligence in his eyes. They sparkle and dance with anticipation of something fun to do. We stress this because he is so cute, people can’t imagine that he needs so much exercise or understand how strong-willed he can be. Even his foster dad says the boy is an energizer bunny and is happier when he’s run it out. Peanut likes playing with other dogs. But he must be an only dog. Funny he does better with cats, especially those that stand their ground. We paid for Peanut to go through an extensive and intense training/boarding course for a month to more fully understand Peanut as well as give him the best chance for adoption. The trainers and Peanut made great progress. He learned basic commands and he learned how to focus. He loved the training. His new owners will need to attend a training session with the professional trainers who worked with Peanut to understand how best to keep his training going. Peanut is not a set and forget kind of dog. He is an incredibly special dog. Peanut would do best with a person who has a strong, steady and consistent approach and presence to guide him. Peanut is the kind of dog who might make for a great agility dog, an activity that works his mind and athletic abilities, while bonding him to his person. He’d be a great trail dog. He could even be a great farm dog, but he is not to be left outside. He must be an inside dog with a mindful owner. Peanut isn’t a big barker. He knows how to live in a house. He likes his chew toys. He walks well on a leash. Peanut will be a great companion for someone who is looking for an energetic, smart, agile, handsome, and eager to go pup. BUT if you are thinking about Peanut because he looks cute, which he is, this is not the dog for you. Only experienced dog owners should apply. Peanut has tremendous potential to be the dog of a lifetime with the right kind of guidance and training. If interested in welcoming Peanut to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
