Story
Let me introduce you to the warm soul we call George, He has a comforting presence. George can come off a little reserved at first, but that’s just because he’s not the type to push for attention. He’s the quiet kind—like a best friend who’s always there, steady and grounding. George has all the traits of a loyal, loving dog and he is ready to find himself at home. What stands out most about George is how easy his company is. He’s slow and steady across the board—whether he’s meeting new people, walking on leash, hanging with other dogs, or encountering a cat.. Based on his look and temperament, we think he may be a Kelpie/Shepherd mix, estimated to be around 4 years old, and he weighs 50 lbs. As with any rescue, we can’t say with total certainty on age or breed, but he is fully-grown size so we can testify to how perfectly midsize he is. George is so fortunate and is being fostered in a loving home while he waits for his adoption day and this not only gives us a front-row account to hi personality but he also gets to learn and master the best house manners while he waits. His foster has praised George for how well he rides in the car- laying in the back peacefully, only perking up once they have arrived. He is also both house and crate trained! We loooove that! George lives with both cats and dogs in his foster home and he gets along well with them all. We spent an afternoon with George outside of his foster home to get a feel of his play style and approach to new dogs along with observing him meet a new cat. The first thing that jumped out was just how politely George meets new dogs on-leash. He showed a little excitement when he saw the first dog, it was contained but obvious, he was happy to meet a possible playmate. With each additional dog the approach was the same, neutral and calm. Although he never found the perfect playmate to really let loose, he was easy company and is dog-friendly. The most natural pairing was with a female, similar age to him, with a sense of confidence and bouts of playfullness. If going into a home with another dog, that would be almost exactly the type of dog he would be best with. Dogs like George, who come across as reserved, are often naturally independent, confident and content with their own company. Another quality we love! Even though we know George lives with cats we love to see a dog in a new environment, meeting a new cat to get a grasp on what that could look like once he is arriving in a new home. He was introduced on leash and he was curious but respectful and calm. As the cat got more animated and jumpy playing with a toy, George definitely thought it was an invitation to play. He obviously can live peacefully with cats but we all know, cat personalities are a variable. If joining a house with a cat(s), it would be best if they were dog savvy. He will respect a swat and may need one to mind a boundary. George would do great in a home with a yard, if for no other reason than his simple joy of laying in the shade on a patch of green grass. It is heaven to watch! He has great basic leash skills with a nice pace but a hectic, busy environment might throw off his vibes. Basically, the busy environment of elevators and lobby are not for him. He could do it, but we can see he isn’t much of a busy city guy. The same goes for family-life, he could do it but he has really been spoiled by a foster home with the occasional 20 something year old kid coming by to do laundry. In other words, empty-nester? Not with George! He is ready to fill your time with good company! Invite this boy home to peaceful place and a patch of grass, with a doggie friend and a cool cat and George will be there to take it all in—his pace and by your side! If you’ve got room in your life for a gentle heart and a quiet companion, George is ready to bring calm, sweetness, and unwavering loyalty into your world. Questions? The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. Story
MEET TONNIE! Tonnie is a 2 year old Australian Kelpie mix looking for her furever home through PAWS Rescue, Inc. Tonnie is a sweet spirit. She loves to play with other dogs or alone with her toys. She enjoys a good walk or playing in the yard. One of her favorite things is to grab a drink as the water flows from the hose. Tonnie can be shy at first and needs someone who will be patient with her. She takes her time getting to know people, but once she feels safe, she's very affectionate. She loves back scratches, belly rubs, and snuggling up to watch TV. She loves treats and has a very soft approach to taking them. She knows the sit command and has good recall (most of the time!!) She's done very well at the dog park and at Club Hound. She seems to enjoy off-leash time with other dogs but has done well with pack walks, too. She hasn't spent a lot of time with my cat but appears to be non-reactive. She does have some visual impairment, which affects her very little. It's almost unnoticeable at home, but she occasionally runs into things if she's in unfamiliar territory. It has been a real pleasure fostering her and watching her blossom. We think she will make someone a great companion. Help our sweet Tonnie find her forever home!

Story
Sophie here is just about the sweetest, sensitive, people-centered pup with quiet, loyal energy I have ever met. She isn’t going to be the loudest in the room—but she is sure going to be most attentive. That sweet, soft presence of her woo’d me in no time at all and I have no doubt she is going to do the same for you. Take a look at her video to fast-track the falling in love then come back to read more about this amazing girl. https://youtu.be/_pm2DZpp_aM Sophie is a 1-year-old (ish) mystery mix, like all rescue dogs., breed and birthday are details we cannot guarantee. She looks like a Border collie/Kelpie mix but her presence is that of a basset hound. What we do know is that she is a quietly devoted, deeply sweet dog. She is sort of like a shadow, close by, never underfoot. She’s not clingy just... present, I'll say from experience, she is the best company. Sophie is house-trained, crate-trained, and currently waiting for her adoption day in a loving foster home. Her foster shared that she is calm inside the house, respectful of space, and easy to live with. Outside, she can be a bit more reserved. She doesn’t enjoy loud environments or busy energy. She is polite passing and meeting new dogs but doesn’t have much interest beyond that. She isn’t reactive in these environments, she simply looks for her person and retreats a little. It is gentle and truthfully, not every dog wants to be out on the town and that is okay, we love a homebody! So, what is Sophies ideal home? Calm, quiet, and steady. Her foster works a very traditional 9-5 and she is thriving in the routine of weekdays and especially enjoys the weekend with walks and snuggle sessions. She would love to be a solo-dog but she can coexist with respectful dogs who won’t push her to play. From what we have seen she has potential to live with a cat. We consider her possibly cat-compatible only because when she met our spicy, very confident house cat, she was intimidated and uncomfortable. We are happy to introduce her to another cat if you are interested, simply we saw no red flags and her gentle nature and responsive nature leave us feeling positive about the possibility. Lastly, this girl isn’t your dog park type and she won’t need playgroups, love and a peaceful home are the keys to her happiness. People are where her heart is. Sophie may be a bit shy in her approach to new people but it only takes a minute to warm up, once she does, she your quiet companion. She won’t bark for attention or demand your lap, but she’ll be there—next to you while you work, waiting calmly while you cook, gently checking in with a look or a soft lean. She finds safety in connection. Sophie is the kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be loved—she wants to belong. If you’re kind, value a peaceful, simple life and you’re looking for a companion to walk through life with, you are in the right place for a dream connection. Sophie is ready and waiting! Questions? Questions? Story
Meet Indy – The Spirited Little Kelpie with a Big Heart At just 3 years old and around 40 pounds, Indy may be small in size, but she’s bursting with personality, intelligence, and love. This Kelpie–Cattle Dog mix is the perfect blend of playful and affectionate — a lively companion who adores her people and thrives on interaction. Indy is currently in private training to help fine-tune her manners and work on her prey drive, and she’s making wonderful progress. She’s incredibly smart, eager to please, and food-motivated, which makes training sessions a joy. This sweet girl loves: Running the fence line and chatting with the neighbor dogs through the knotholes (she’s a social butterfly!). Helping in the garden, where she proudly “hunts” grasshoppers and voles — it’s her version of pest control! Watching out the window while you’re away, then greeting you like it’s been years, even if you just took the trash out. Playing with kids — she adores them and has a fun, gentle energy that matches well with families. Indy is well-behaved in the home, even when left alone, and though she isn’t crate-trained, she doesn’t need to be. She’s doing great with her basic commands and is learning better leash manners — a gentle over-the-nose leash helps her walk beautifully. She enjoys playing with other dogs but can be selective, so slow, proper introductions are key. Due to her background and instincts, she should avoid German Shepherds, as that’s one breed she doesn’t get along with well. Indy’s Ideal Home: A family with children or active adults who love to engage with their dog A secure fenced yard to explore and play Possibly a compatible dog companion (with good intros!) Someone patient and consistent who will continue her positive training Her Story Before rescue, Indy was a working ranch dog who’d fallen on hard times. Injured and pregnant, she was left to fend for herself outdoors through harsh winter conditions. She was found having dug a hole in the frozen ground to shelter her seven pups — Pearl, Opal, Jade, Arrow, River, Ash, and Archer — keeping them warm until help arrived. Her strength and devotion saved them all. Now, safe and healed, Indy is thriving in her foster home in Kimberly, Idaho, and is so ready for her forever family. Her foster loves her dearly and is even sponsoring 50% of her adoption fee to help her find the perfect match. Story
Introducing Rosie Posie the sweetpea! We believe Rosie is right at about 5 years old and a Cattle dog mix of some sort. She is approximately 29 pounds. She has the best smile that makes you want to cover her with kisses! Due to her being a rescue, age and breed are our best guess and cannot be guaranteed. But that's the best thing about rescue puppies, you get a mystery prize of a pup! Meet Rosie Here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmLCFuxXFYo Rosie lives at home with a wide variety of other dog siblings varying in ages and sizes. Rosie prefers the company of people over pups, she just wants to be by your side especially if you are cuddling her on the couch. She gets along well with other pups and would do well as an only dog or with siblings. One of Rosie's favorite things is stuffed toys especially if it squeaks! Overall I believe that Rosie is going to make a family very happy! Her future is very bright and so is the future of her new family with her by their side! She is learning the beauty of this world and is going to be forever grateful for his forever family! Do you believe that Rosie is who your family is missing? Story
Nova is an eye-catching dog. Somewhere between her smile, her brindle/spotted combo coat, and her expressive ears she grabs you and pulls you right in and the best part is she is as beautiful as she is sweet! She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t demand you pay attention to her but soaks up every bit of it when you do. Ill share the double whammy, the one-two combo… its belly rubs and baby talk. You’ll know you are doing it right because her tail won’t hide the happiness. Nova is estimated to be 1.5 years old and she weighs 41 lbs, a bit of a Goldilocks size- not too small, not too big, just right! Given Nova is a rescue we cannot guarantee age or breed but we believe she may be a cattle dog/pittie mix. Take a look for yourself- you’ll see where we get that from pretty easily. Nova is so lucky and is being fostered in a loving home while she waits for her adoption day. Her foster family has shared such positive feedback on her we say she is pretty much move-in ready. She’s house- and crate-trained, has excellent manners at home, and currently lives with kids (ages 9, 10, and 13), fitting in seamlessly with family life. Nova is also dog-friendly but isn’t going to be out trying to make friends with every passing dog. She likes to take it slow and once she has got to know them a bit, she warms up and plays well. The afternoon we spent with her she met a handful of other dogs and got along well with them all but had a great match with a medium-energy male who matched her vibe without overwhelming her. We also introduced her to our house cat and she was eager to meet him but was cautious and polite. I was impressed by how easily she could walk away from him and share space without being overly concerned about where he was. Turns out I had somehow missed that he lives with a cat in his foster home! So no shock knowing that along with seeing her meet a new cat, Nova is cat-tolerant! One area where Nova is practicing daily to improve on is her leash skills. She has the basics down but sometimes can’t decide which side she wants to walk on. Barely a problem in out book but definitely a detail that can be addressed to make walking her a bit easier and less “hazardous” lol, but she’s eager to please and very responsive to gentle handling. Her foster family shared she is quiet, not much of a barker, so we believe with the right balance of mental and physical stimulation, she could absolutely thrive in an apartment. Nova’s not high-maintenance. She’s the kind of dog who’s happy to hang out, go on a good walk, and be part of your day. We could see her being an awesome hiking pal, walking partner, and/or your laid-back road trip co-pilot. She doesn’t need anything wild though, just someone looking for a dependable companion who doesn’t need to be the center of attention but loves to be part of your crew. Nova is ready to be your best friend for it all.
