🚨 URGENT – MALI IS RUNNING OUT OF TIME 🚨 Mali is a gentle, sensitive girl who is struggling to understand the noisy, overwhelming shelter around her 💔 She’s a little nervous right now—but underneath that is a sweet, kind soul who just needs a moment to feel safe. She isn’t reactive or difficult… just unsure. And in a place like this, dogs like Mali are the ones who get overlooked the fastest. She does well with other dogs and finds comfort in their presence. What she really needs is a calm, patient home where she can decompress and finally let her guard down. Right now, Mali is at risk simply because she’s scared in a scary place. Please don’t let fear be the reason she loses her life. Give Mali the chance to feel safe… to trust… to be loved. 🐾 PLEASE HELP TEXT KAREN 4136298152

Story
🚨 EUTH LISTED – SWEET BOY COVU NEEDS A HERO 🚨 Covu ended up at the shelter as a stray, but despite being alone and unsure of what happened to his family, he has remained gentle, loving, and full of hope. This handsome boy has a sweet and affectionate personality and absolutely loves being around people. Covu enjoys giving kisses and soaking up attention from anyone willing to stop and spend a moment with him. He walks nicely on a leash and has done well with other dogs, making him a wonderful companion for walks, adventures, or simply relaxing by your side. Covu has the kind of loyal, loving temperament that shepherd mixes are known for — once he bonds with you, he will be your devoted best friend. Right now, though, Covu is running out of time. Through no fault of his own, this gentle boy has been placed on the euthanasia list and urgently needs a foster, adopter, or rescue to give him the chance he deserves. Covu doesn’t need perfection. He just needs someone willing to give him a chance to live and be loved. Please help this sweet boy find his way out of the shelter alive PLEASE TEXT KAREN 4136298152

Story
Meet Varrius! Varrius is a 4 month old male Kelpie mix. This animal is coming up on a transport to the NYC Area Saturday, May 2nd and is looking for a foster home to go into. There are multiple shelters down south that are overcrowded and Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue partners with these shelters to move the animals into foster homes in the North East before they are adopted into their forever family homes. What does it mean to be a foster? The first, and most important, responsibility is to provide a caring and safe home environment. There are some very specific guidelines that we will share with you that will keep everyone safe and healthy. From basic food and water, quarantine periods, and where you can or cannot take your foster, our Foster Handbook and Foster Mentors are fantastic resources. Depending on what type of animal you’re fostering, you’ll need some things in advance. These items may include a crate, puppy pads, or food and water bowls but we have a large foster network that helps share supplies! Louie’s Legacy will pay for full vetting, spay or neuter surgery, and all approved medical or behavioral treatments. By fostering a dog or cat…YOU are MAKING a DIFFERENCE! Every pet deserves saving! Let’s not leave any behind! Apply to foster today! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/LOUE/Dog *Please note that the pet you are interested in may not be available by the time we receive your application. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible and to be open to helping other animals in need.

Story
Meet Spade! 🐾 Spade is a 5-year-old, 60-pound Kelpie mix with a gentle, easygoing personality. He’s a low-energy guy who enjoys relaxed sniffy walks and then settling in for some quality couch time with his people. Spade’s favorite thing in the world is being with his family—wagging his tail and soaking up the company. He is fully potty trained, crate trained, and happily sleeps in his crate at night. He also does well with other dogs, making him a great fit for a home with canine friends. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to join you on long walks and then unwind together at home, Spade might be your perfect match. 💙 He is currently being fostered in Staten Island. His adoption fee is $475. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
