Story
Spot is smart and timid. We’ve had him for almost 8 years, since he was a puppy. He’s been good with all of my kids, even really young as long as they know how to treat a dog. He’s a lot more timid around my husband and other men. He’s also more way around other dogs but has warmed up to them and started playing with them. He likes to play with and be loved on by my kids. Once he’s comfortable with you he’s a really sweet dog. He did go after the only cat he’s been around so I don’t think he should go anywhere with cats. He’s smart, I think he’s the brains behind getting through the fence. He and my other dog have gotten through twice and killed the neighbor’s chickens. But digging and trying to get out were never a problem until neighbors moved in last year with chickens. I’m concerned that if they get through the fence again they will be put down and I don’t want to take that chance.

Story
Meet Jake! 🐾 Jake is an energetic, fun-loving pup who is on the hunt for his furever home! He was surrendered when his previous owner realized they didn’t have enough time to give him the love and attention he deserves—so now he’s ready for a fresh start with a family who can. Jake loves going on walks and enjoys playtime with another dog here at the shelter. He’s very food motivated (which makes training a great opportunity!), but he can be a bit protective over his bone. He also isn’t a fan of having his feet touched, so he would do best in a home without young children. If you’re looking for an active companion who will keep you moving and make you smile, Jake might just be your guy ❤️
