🐾 Meet Heidi 🐾

Heidi is looking for a very specific home—but for the right person, she is absolutely worth it.
Before coming to WAG, Heidi lived a pretty elusive life. It took nearly two weeks to safely catch her, and while we don't know what she's been through, we do know she's discovered that comfy couches, air conditioning, and a full toy box are pretty amazing.
Heidi is house trained, crate trained, uses a dog door, and walks nicely on a leash. She does occasionally need you to go outside with her, especially in a new environment. She is wonderful with other dogs and cats and would do best in a home with at least one confident canine companion to help show her the ropes.
Because Heidi can still be nervous around people, a securely fenced yard and another dog are non-negotiable. She is also looking for a home without small children. Older, calm, predictable kids are just fine, but sudden movements and chaos can still make her think that running away is the best option.
Let's be honest—the first meet and greet may not be very exciting. Heidi probably won't look at you much. She isn't being rude; she's just scared. She's learned to hide those feelings pretty well, so she needs someone who understands that trust isn't built in an afternoon.
When Heidi first goes home, she'll need about 2–3 days of careful management. A drag line should stay attached whenever she's out of her crate, and she should always be supervised. It may sound like a lot, but it's a short investment that sets her up for success.
And here's the best part...
Once Heidi realizes she's safe, she is incredibly loyal. She'll follow you from room to room, ask for endless pets, and might even gently nibble on your toys to convince you it's playtime. She loves zooming around the yard in giant circles, adores toys, and has a playful personality that's just waiting to shine.
Heidi doesn't need someone to rescue her. She needs someone who understands her, gives her clear rules and expectations, and lets her gain confidence at her own pace.
If you're patient enough to earn her trust, you'll gain a best friend who will never want to leave your side.

All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing and treatment if necessary, current flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipping prior to adoption.
