Story
Mango is very happy, energetic, and all around excited dog! She is an Aussie so that means tones of activity! Mango loves meeting new people and going to new places but her excitement can get the better of her now and then (she likes to jump on people to greet them). She is friendly with other dogs but her intensity can make some dogs not so friendly to her. She is a herding breed so playing with other animals tends to be with her teeth. She doesn’t mean this in an aggressive way that’s just how they play. She’s incredibly smart, potty trained and house trained. We have a little bell on the door that she rings when she wants to go out. My family and I can leave her in the house to herself without worrying about things being chewed up or accidents happening. We’re looking for the right home for her a home that has the time and love and the space that she definitely deserves.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please read the bio of the rescue you are interested in to insure you are a match if you are a match the first step is to complete the online adoption application  Ty was originally adopted in April of 2023 from us. Unfortunately his mom moved to a condo and they said he had to go. He has learned alot and is house and pad trained. He does pretty well on leash. He is a sweet mini Aussie who is romping ready to find his furever family. This boy has lots of energy and would do best with an active family.    If you’re looking for a companion that can keep up with the kids, join your family for a hike, but then relax next to your feet at the end of the day, this may be the perfect breed for you.  Ty is up to date on his vaccines,  dewormed,  microchipped and current on preventatives. He is also neutered. If interested in possible adoption please go to www.DelawareRescue.com and complete the online adoption application   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. If you are interested in adopting please read the information here and then complete our online adoption application. One of our volunteers will contact you once the application has been processed.  If this animal is listed as a courtesy posting for another rescue please go to their website to complete the online adoption application.     April 30, 2024, 11:41 am

Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Frederick, MD Meet Bentley! He is an 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Collie mix and weighs 58 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention, but isn’t up to date on shots. Bentley is nervous around strangers. He is good with cats, dogs, and older children! He hasn’t been tested around younger children. Bentley nipped a veterinarian at his last appointment, due to his anxiety. The current owner took him in after his previous owner was going to surrender him to a shelter. The current owner is surrendering him because of his anxiety. He needs to find a new furever home as soon as possible! If you think you can provide a great home for Bentley, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherd’s Furever for their assistance in placing Bentley. Owner’s Contact Information: Stephanie Jenks at (304) 279-6390 or sjenks924@gmail.com.

Story
Hi, my name is Roulette in Boonsboro, MD. I am a very lovable, beautiful red merle girl around 2 years of age and about 50 lbs. I love to be with my human, and I connect very quickly. My foster mom must watch when she walks because I am always right there beside her. She tells me that I am like velcro, but I don't know what that is. I spent a month at Mason Dixon K9 to teach me some commands, and I'm doing well with most of them. While there, I learned how to walk very nicely on a leash, and I don't even pull! I think I'm a very good girl and my foster mom tells me that I am, so I must be. I am very quiet in the car, and I really like car rides, so please don't be afraid to take me places with you. It is important for my new family to be consistent and continue my training. If you give me an inch, I may take a mile and try to push the boundaries. Structure and a calm home are super important to me. I am still learning every day! I am not a big fan of the crate, but I will go it in more easily now than I did at first. I love to play with toys! Big toys, little toys, squeaky toys, you name it and I'l play with it. I like to play with my foster fur sister, but I play a little rough for her. I would be fine as an only dog, but I think I would get used to having a larger brother or sister. A fenced yard would be best, so I can expend my abundant energy. I have a high tolerance to physical activity, so my adopter should be physically active and be ready to play mental games with me as well. My foster mom doesn't have human kids, but I have been around some. They are very interesting to watch, but young kids overwhelm me. I think I would do best with teenagers and older. I am a herding dog and do tend to herd young children especially if they are running. I was just spayed, so I must take it easy for a little while. I am ready to find a family of my own that I can love and have them love me too. I am pretty much housebroken, but I could stand a little more work in that area. I walk well on a leash but will pull some if I see something very interesting. I LOVE walks! If you have a place in your heart for a girl that is so full of love to give and wants to be with you as much as possible, I am that girl! I would love to meet you, and if you have any fur babies already, I will need to meet them. I think I play too rough for smaller dogs. I am being fostered in Boonsboro, Maryland. Here is the application:https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Princeton  1 year old neutered mini Aussie Up to date on shots Heartworm and Lyme negative Currently on Interceptor Plus heartworm prevention  Princeton is a curious and comical one year old pup in a small package. He is a mini Aussie standing just 16 inches tall and weighing 24 lbs. Princeton had very little exposure during his puppy stage in life and spent 19 days in a shelter. We have no idea what his life was like before that except that we were told he was crated most of the time. Princeton came to ASF with a urinary tract infection and reactive to being put back in his crate. He would thrash around and try to bite the person holding the collar. This is understandable since he probably got out very little at the shelter was possibly handled with some force. He is adapting quite well to his new surroundings and loves having a stable environment. He can still be reactive when his collar is grabbed, so an adopter will need to continue to work on making it a positive experience. He does this out of fear, not aggression. He now willingly goes in his crate with a treat at night or when no one is home. He might bark for a short time but quickly settles down. Princeton’s energy is infectious, and he loves to play with his foster sisters who are twice his size (although he can play rough and needs a tolerant playmate). He would excel on a farm or with an active family with a fenced yard and some playmates. Although he is small, he still has a herd drive and has not been tested with small children, cats, or other small animals. Princeton tends to jump and play nip when excited, but he is getting much better. He does not like men but will gradually warm up to them. He will growl and bark but has never tried to bite a new person. Princeton is mostly housebroken but still has the occasional accident. He gets so excited playing with his friends; that he forgets to do his business. Usually, he is very vocal and talks to you when he wants to go out. Princeton still needs some work on leash training and basic commands and would do well in obedience or agility classes. He requires ample playtime and socialization as he is still a puppy at heart. He does have some separation anxiety so having other canine companions will help. His new owner will need to have patience with him and willing to work through his few behavioral problems. Continued training will be essential. Princeton seems to get better every day. If you can open your heart to this little fellow, please fill out an application today. He is ready for his furever home. Princeton is being fostered in Milton, DE. Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
***Do not post*** (possible adoption)  Name: Cheer Age: 11 weeks (est. Feb 3rd, 2024 birthdate)  Breed: Aussie Collie Mix Sex: Male Weight: 11.5 lbs  Medical Needs: Spay appointment scheduled for Thursday, May 16th, at Humane Animal Partners (formerly DE Humane Association), 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Drop off 8am Pickup around 3pm Housebroken:  Mostly. He is able to hold it when he's in the crate and will go when he is brought outside. We are working on him using a bell to let us know if he needs to go, but he is still learning.   Crate trained: Stays in crate all night long. Some nights needs to get up one time to go potty, but is able to sleep through the night. He stays in the crate when I'm at work up to 3.5 hours on his own. When I come home, he is typically sleeping in his crate and waits patiently for me to come get him. He does not like being in the crate if we are home and he is able to hear us doing things.  Good in the car: Cheer's first car trip he got a little nauseous, but his second car trip, he was a pro! He was a little anxious getting into the car, but once we got moving, he was good.   Good on a leash: Still learning, but making progress! He loves to hold part of the leash in his mouth and "walk himself". He also gets very excited when he sees other people and dogs and wants to say hi to everyone.  Energy level: Puppy! Based on breed will be a high-energy dog that needs a very active family. Loves toys and zoomies. He loves to be outside in the grass and sun.   Need a fenced in yard: No, but always preferred. Will require a lot of activity so dedication to taking him out is a must. Dog friendly? He loves saying hi to dogs that pass our yard, but close encounters haven't occurred yet.  Cat friendly? Unknown.   Kid friendly? He has been great with my 5 year old, who is also very active! He is still learning with nipping, so sometimes Cheer will think he's playing and nip my son a little, but we have been training both my son and Cheer what to do to avoid those situations. I would say you could go as young as 4 years old if they are very good at following directions, but I wouldn't go much younger than that.   Special traits: Cheer is very true to his name, happy and social. He wants to say hi to everyone who passes us by and loves belly rubs. He loves being outside in the grass and sun and will run on his leash in the yard with my son. He loves his chew toys and special doggie blanket. The older he gets the more curious and independent he gets and pet proofing your house is recommended. As he’s a puppy, he shouldn’t be left alone for more than 3-4 hours if at all. He loves to be around his people, even if he's just sitting nearby.   Fosters Location: Milton, DE Application can be found here: [https://www.grrde.](https://www.grrde/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR1IQVoRA1YKaW_jFDx1SxGHD6Cpg8JdSYZ2e62D-tfbIvrYRzDnhGdnh-8_aem_AZfFJRIdLs8EZtrKlPVk3xiSTVwEL5VITgb30kl1s6gJx0_-tZTzu7eZxjBVD-fGcwkNrGUv8fiZKQ7IvHUhQ33e) org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##2008482##
