Story
Hello! I'm Smokey Blue and I have a story to tell. Grab your coffee and settle in. It's a doozy of a story already, and I'm only 1.5 years old! But, you know what, I tell my story of great loss with my head held high because I just know my Forever Family is out there looking for me. I had a first home when I was a young puppy and they didn't have a fence. I wandered out of the yard a few times when I was unsupervised and they got into trouble -- so I got surrendered to Desert Haven. Are you sitting there thinking, "Umm just supervise your puppy or build a fence?!" Ya, I thought the same thing! But that's OK. I don't dwell on the bad stuff because I'm an optimistic young dog with a bright future ahead of me. Fast forward a few months: A wonderful family came to meet me while I was living at Desert Haven and decided to adopt me. I loved living with this family! In this family I had a human sibling, a dog sibling, chickens, and loving parents. They said I was super snuggly and liked sleeping in the bed with them. We went on walks together and I was very good on the leash. I had a lot of toys to play with and was a great brother to my dog sibling. I like to have a lot of attention and they gave it to me. We all lived well together for months and months; it was grand! No one is really sure why I started my behaviors, and everyone was very surprised I started doing them -- but here are the facts. I started to get reactive to some people. Thankfully, my family intervened so no one got hurt. My family loved me to pieces and they said I'm a Great Dog -- but they decided not to pursue training or help for my behaviors. So now I'm back at Desert Haven. UGH! Here I am, Smokey Blue, young and confused about things. My family raved about having me as their dog! They love me this I know. But what I need now is a family who knows I have this tendency toward protection and who commits to guiding me through it. I'm young and trainable and eager to please my humans. I am Smokey Blue, Great Dog! Here we go, Third Times The Charm! Are you the family for me? Will you commit to me? Yes? Come on over to meet me then! Love, Smokey Blue
